Lucky they have a surrogate mother. If not then that baby would suffer from a minor level of inbreeding depression which affects all babies born from incest whatever the species and causes babies to receive some of these traits:
-Reduced fertility
-Lower birth rate
-Higher infant mortality rate
-Slower growth rate
-Loss of immune system

I wouldn't call the poor child lucky tbh. That's stretching it.

Lucky as in at least it'll grow up healthy as to like how you'd imagine a stereotypical hillbilly.

Which part exactly, dear? The fact that they are related? The age difference? Or maybe the fact that they're having a baby? I know, pretty hard to decide..Felitzia wrote:my gosh that's sick!!!

Actually, I really doubt the baby will grow up to be "healthy", at least from an emotional perspective. Unless the baby's homeschooled, I think a lot of people won't be too "nice" to it :( - poor baby.
Is your signature in Greek, Mandui? If so, then yassou - haha! :)

I'm going to be honest, here. These people are both consenting adults, so I really can't bring myself to claim that their relationship is wrong. It's a conscious decision they're making based on existing feelings, and while it certainly strikes me as bizarre, it's not wrong.
But then, they're having a baby, to which I'll have to object on the grounds of the baby's welfare. That's just immoral, damn it.

Re: Grandson in love with Grandmother
If this story is true I can’t help to find it ironic that if the parents of the grandmother hadn’t been so worried about their reputation and had her keep her daughter this crazy situation of her falling in love with her grandson might never have occured:
“Pearl (grandmother) was 18 when she fell pregnant with daughter Lynette. She was living with her Catholic parents in Indiana and they insisted she give the baby away, so as not to bring the family into disrepute.
They organised a private adoption and Pearl never again saw her baby girl.
Pearl went on to marry, but she never had any more children. Instead she searched for her lost daughter until finally giving up hope 15 years ago.”
“When Phil (grandson) phoned Pearl, the pair admits they were both rather nervous. Pearl told Phil about being forced to give up Lynette for adoption, and Phil told Pearl about his mum dying of cancer.
'We both cried but kept talking for three hours,' she says. 'When he emailed me a photo, I thought what a handsome and sexy man he was before pinching myself – he was my grandson!'
Confused, Pearl talked to a friend, who told her about an article she'd read on Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA), which occurs when close relatives meet as adults and are attracted to each other.
'I could now understand my feelings and realise they weren't wrong,' Pearl says.”

But of course. The fact that they are adults and are making a conscious decision is a healthy enough argument to support this as the right decision to make. Just like that sect which worships angel-aliens from <Random Planet's Name Here> and has Disney music tracks serve as their psalms. Adult people making conscious decisionsMerandil wrote:I'm going to be honest, here. These people are both consenting adults, so I really can't bring myself to claim that their relationship is wrong. I said it wasn't wrong. It didn't say it wasn't stupid.

We dun look kindly on these kind of hicks, ain't that right Skeeter.
On a serious note: I don't understand why this is even posted here. It's kind of common knowledge that 99 per cent of what resides on the internet is bullshit.

Care to enlighten me as to why? Last I heard, no-one's been hurt because of these people, and no-one bar the world's self-proclaimed moral guardians seem to suffer.
I have a very clear view of what is and is not right by my moral standards. As far as I am concerned, judging others based on prejudice, superstition and personal preferences is definately wrong.
We're living in the year 2010 and the reason incest is considered disgusting is because of instinct, in place to ensure genetic diversity in our species. Inbreeding is a genuine cause for concern, and certainly not a good thing. However, homosexual couples do not produce viable offspring either, yet homosexuals are recieving more respect for their way of life than they once were, as in this modern age the urgent need for each individual to engage in reproduction has dropped significantly for humanity.
What I want to know, is why the double-standards? Why is one wrong but not the other, when both are caused by the same thing, and result in the same thing?
