Thats what I want to talk about, its sad, dramatic, action, mecha and gives you an OMFG feeling so many times I cant count!

What's it about? I am not that big of a mecha fan tbh...

It's more or less a run of the mill mech anime. Kid with gigant robot fighting against unralistic odds.

Just set in a different sort of setting.

For a 'run of the mill mecha anime', it's quite decent. Good I daresay. The latter half of it anyway.

My anime viewing count is under 10. Maybe even under 5 as in thats how many anime's i've seen in total in my life which sums it up as I dont really pay attention to anime however on saying that one of the ones I have seen is indeed Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

It's an ok anime. Kid with giant robot about fits the description of giant mecha anime thing with dramatic moments. Humans live under the earth in fear of whats above and the main guy and two others go to the surface after the main kid finds a mecha underground by chance(It's always by chance right?). Themes change later on aswell as time. The latter half where the time skip is prob where it gets better.

Though fuck the faces on the mech's.

In other news Code Geass was a much better show if we're talking about Anime. Mecha show(Though mecha's aren't fully relevent until the second season) where the main character isn't good or bad but is just making a reality of the world to himself where others see differently with his power of kings(Able to make people do whatever he wants, just once per person).

Code Geass is indeed awesome. Over-the-top, but in a great way.

Indeed code geass had drama, tactics and actions.. Not to mention awesome mechas.
But this Anime is about doing what is impossible, its about the sacrifices people sometimes have to do in order to survive and its about pure epicness!
During the anime I cried more then I have ever done in;
- Code geass, both seasons.
- Death note.
- Blood+
- Naruto shippudden, when I thought every one died
- And Bleach, when I learned they had stopped making the Anime xD

Its really awesome and on my top 3 animes.

I didn't watch many things, since most bored me to death or i just didn't like them. Right now for one kinda only watching one called Gintama, though right now reruns...

Mecha things... Hm never really suited me. Though i'd watch a anime if it was made after This, for sure, cats man, cats.

I have a big problem with almost all mecha. Kid super soldiers who are pilots of super robots.

This anime is twice as enjoyable if you've watched Neon Genesis Evangelion first.

Trust me on this.

Hmm I've seen Eva at least, as one of the only other mecha's. Maybe I'll see this one day.... maybe... not really my genre.

It's entertaining enough. But not the "Omgwtf" that a lot of it's fans say. Got a few fun characters. And one EXTREMLY annoying and hard to like characters. That I wouldn't even call a character just a plot effect.

This talk of Anime make's me want to rewatch Bebop...

Bebop was the shit, also Outlaw star I remember now growing up with access to Toonami.

I like bebop for the characters, not much else. For being anime it has a very low amount of obnoxious characters with two. =P

I remember that one time I watched through Evangelion when I was a lot younger than I am now. Such horrible characters, and the story wasn't anything good either. Yet, if you look at what the "public" thinks, apparently it's one of the best animes ever. This, I've never understood.


There's so much better shows out there, Lupin the III, Cowboy Bebop, Gundam (while extremely cheesy) to name a few.

Never been able to watch -any- gundam series in full. Due to the simple fact all of them I've tried (original, X, wing, some others) suffer from the "KID WITH GREAT POWER AND BATTLE INTUITION FOR NO FUCKING REASON AT ALL!" crap.

And the reason NGE is popular is the mindfuck aspects, and big fucking robots.

You could try Unicorn, it's actually pretty good (a lot better than the others, that's for sure). Good lovely effects.

Watch Turn A Gundam. It's practically what would happen if Ghibli made Gundam.

Seen NGE, was bloody confusing. Couldn't get a grip of any possible plot, since there basically was none to begin with. Mechas are neat, though to a certain extent.

If you listen to the last episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion with the voice-actor commentary turned on, then you hear Shinji's english voice actor complain (in character!) about the ending; and how "this better all be explained in the movie"!

Which it was not, the Rebuild of Evangelion was better; until the third installment.

@Coppersocket: Gundam Unicorn is fantastic, the soundtrack is heavenly. More than makes up for the steaming pile of gradeschool marketed toy-selling Gundam Age.
