Character Nicknames

I was reading through the forum earlier today and noticed something. A lot of character on DB have nicknames, related to life changing events, deed's, story's and so forth. And i thought it'd be interesting to make a list of some. If the post here becomes popular enough, i may may create a thread in the IC section as a list ing of them all, or something. I'l go first.

Krogon Devilstep:

Devilstep - From his Om'riggor hunt. Krogon ran bare foot from durotar to Un'goro crater where was confronted with the towering menace of a Devilsaur, and swallowed whole! carving his way out its throat with only a knife, he killed the beast. Upon his Return to tribe red blade at razor hill he was awarded the name for the act of running so far and killing such a devil of a foe.

Render - A name given to him by his fellow Blademaster's, for his habbit of carbing off his foe's limbs but letting them live. The irony being that krogon himself nearly lost his left arm as a young orc to a similar act.

Seiken Lionmane

Lion of Strom - after a paticularly vicious series of battles that ended with a siege of hammerfall, Seiken held the settlements gate on his own for several minuteds against numerous foes. Not realising his friends watched on, Aarain northlight took up the cry "A Lion! A Lion! A Lion of Strom!", and the name stuck ever since.

Lionmane - Not so much a nickname as his actual last name in these times. He took his new family name from the hunting trophy he claimed from the Sabre-cat he battled in mountains of alterac. The Sabre-cats Mane sits over his shoulders and upper back and its huge claws on his pauldrons. Come the day of choosing his new last name he simply took his Nickname, and his trophy and applied them together. So the name 'Lion' isnt for the Barrens breed, but for the gargantuan beasts of alterac (like thus http://igs.indiana.edu/images/fossilsandtime/sabertooth.jpg )

Siegmund Shadow:

Shadow - Just his family name, never held any significant importance, even though others might think diffrently.

The Skull Hound - A blade, Timmy started calling him that and it has gone around altough he doesn't really care for it too much himself. He keeps a skull mask on his belt when he doesn't wear it and the fact that he is a worgen made the name possible.

Dothan Wolf

Silver - A nickname, no one knows how he really got it, some asume it's a kind of silver tongue thing. In reality it's a old secret family name he holds on to, known for more magic matters.

Rayne "Timna" Lieuth Thorgint Farglade

Sketch - An old alias of Timna still used by some of her friends.

Dorty - A play on her former title, "Dortola", used by non-Arathorians.

Tim-Nah - Used by people who have issues pronouncing her names.

Prowleye - The name she was given on her Arathorian rite.

Xiao-Rayne - A name given to her by Pandaren due to her small size.

Ariandra Fox-Alence

The Not-So-Little-One - A name given to her by the first Pandaren she met when she denied being called 'little'.

Little Sparrow - A name given to her by the local gypsies, because she's lost.

Null - An old name of hers, no longer used.

Timna forgot a name.

So did Ariandra.

Sadok:
- Sharptongue - His Om'riggor name. Unrelated to the prey he hunted (a shark), but given in light of his particularly keen grasp of words and penchant for (often insulting) snark.
- Insult Orc - Coined by Kaleil at a Bilgewater Harbor market, after Truthteller began charging elves gold to be insulted and put-down by Sadok. He would later accept a large bag of money to insult himself as loud as possible, which he reluctantly obliged by.
- ((Sad-orc/Sa-dork - OOC terms of insult that wound me to my very soul!))

Excluding the one or two given by myself for the sake of history background (and as such unused in-game anyway), they're quite few really:

Feraleye - As a result of his Om'riggor, and getting half of his face and one eye mauled up by a raptor in a mano-a-mano.
Fat Orc - You know who you are. And once again, it's fluffy, not fat.

So far I have only one nickname for Kristeas:

Sun drizzle - Because Morgeth can't elfspeak.

Vaell has the nickname Fire: When a plague was spread in a tunnel by Old Town, Vaell closed off the tunnel with wards whilst a man named Timmy threw molotov cocktails in. Vaell then weaved the fire to burn the remnants of the plague and wala! A nickname was spawned.

Kyven's last name is Lionheart: Due to how strong and noble-like the name sounds, Kyven will always give an epic tale behind it e.g. Killing a Lion with his bare hands whilst tearing the heart from its body. In truth, he was given twenty silver to eat a Lion's heart raw when he was desperate for coin. They chanted Lionheart and, embarassed as he was, he liked the name!

Melan 'Lionsclaw' Aetherel

- Lionsclaw. This is the Rite name given to him by the Arathorian elders as he returned from his hunt, having slain a mountain lion in the Hillsbrad.

- Hawkeye Ranger. An honourary title granted to Melan for an exceptionally difficult shot

- Do khla. An affectionate nickname given to him by his fiance, meaning 'my lion' in ancient Arathorian.

- Mel. Self explanitory.

Valdar Arnot

- Val. Self explanitory.

- Scarecrow. A nickname he earned in Northrend while serving under Garodin Silversmith in the 7th Legion for wearing a bird-like mask. It has stuck with him into his SI:7 carreer.

- John Smith. Valdar's standard pseudonym for when working disguised.

Dréfurion Thistlemane

- Dre/Dref. Speaks for itself, it's the most common nickname given to him.

- Thistlemane. Uncommonly used, some individuals have a preference for calling him this, Jondalar for example.

- Furion. Only used consistently by Elysiah, it's sometimes used when people want to tell him off for something.

Taoven 'Skywing' Andural

- 'Skywing' - The rite name placed upon him when he returned from his rite with the wings of an eagle.

- 'TaoTao' - A name that's been thrown around lately. He isn't pleased with it.

Ledgic Kaden Caan

- Caan - Duh

- 'Beast' - A delightful nickname given to him by his father. This hasn't been used in years.

- 'Viper' - A nickname given to him by the SI:7.

Omanos Galenos

- 'The Lightweaver' - This title was given to Omanos a few years back after he channeled the light into a large demon inside the cathedral, causing it to explode. This name was passed to him by Rentarn Finje of the Disciples of Light.

Drustai

Dru - Obvious.

Lich'dorei - Often the only name Drustai is known by amongst the night elves, typically used pejoratively. Means "child of the lich" or similar.

The Necromancer - Human equivalent to Lich'dorei, Drustai is often called this by her many detractors in the Eastern Kingdoms.

Master of Death - Self-proclaimed title Drustai has used for herself since the defeat of the Scourge, in light of her beliefs of being the most powerful necromancer remaining on Azeroth.

Areyah Conover

Arey - Obvious.

Conover - Areyah is rarely close enough with people for first names. Therefore, the most common name she is known by is her surname.

Conie - Nickname given to Areyah by certain members of the Stormwind Regiment after she went drinking with them. Areyah refuses to acknowledge the name while working, seeing it as far too unprofessional.

Skarain Feirand

Ska/Skar - Obvious

Feirand - a surname Skarain took in memory of her mother, soon after her death. The word means "One who is strong" in Old Common. It was her way to shout out to the world that she would not give up, she would not lie down and die regardless of any hardship she'd endure in her life.

Firewolfie - Nickname given by Delidah (when she still was an elf) by the time they meet first times, seeing that Skarain remained in worgen form majority of the time and wielded Fire as her magic.

Necromancer's Loyal Hound - a name given by the Anethioneans through wanted posters. Originally meant as mockery, the name is actually quite accurate seeing what Skarain nowdays is.

You forgot "Skaroo".

Jahzeem

Jahz / Jazzie - Duh
Da doc - He's a witch doctor, his orcish friend Bloodnose came to call him that.
Revenant - Grim started calling him that after he came back from the dead through a series of... stuff.

Scuzy

Scuzy - In itself a nickname, short for "Scuzette" a name noone ever uses ever.
Sunny - Short version of her last name, Sunburn.
The Knight of Smiles - Coined by Starri of the Blood Knight guard. Ever since scuzy's conversion to the Light, she's faced conflict and good times alike with a friendly, passive smile.

Delidah

Deli - Duh. Both the nelf and goblin versions often heard this one.
Little purple woman - Orc nicknames arn't very creative.
Virmin/Little Rat/Traitor etc. - She's been called all manners of dirty things after she betrayed the marauders to aid the Kor'kron and further her research in weapons of mass exploding.

Grim

Stonepaw - his surname, earnt after a vision quest showing that he had the totem beast of an elemental wolfhound type thing.

Warcaller Grumpyguts - because Grim rarely smiles and isn't the friendliest orc in the world.

Aaaaand Scuzy gets referred to as the Light-botherer by Grim fairly often.

Gor'Thrak

Gorth - a nickname for the lazy or the ones that have trouble speaking his name properly.

Bloodaxe - a name he earned after surviving many battles while always doing what he could to charge and break the enemy lines, wielding only his axe and some pants. It's also partly because he was forced into slaying his own brother.

Frosthowl - a name that he has earned in undeath as his roar is piercing and cold. It also comes from that he performed a second Om'riggor due to feeling that he was not the same Orc as he was in life, but that he was someone else. During this he went to the Stormpeaks and slayed a pack of wolves there.

Garrim Forgemight

Trogg - A hard earned nickname, after consistently being the worst guard to ever walk azeroth.
"Ye bastard" - More often he is referred to this rather than his real name, as a result of a hundred years of alcohol intake.

Josef Grant, Undead (Human) Stalker

Jester - Coined by few Marauders, for his constant jibes and jokes while hopping around like a fool.

North Wind - Given to him by Argora, named for his "talents" in combat.

Zombini - Blame Jahzeem and Grim for this.

Arenfel Serpentine, Kirin-Tor Archmage

Aren-yo - Alorah's affectionate nick-name for him.

Snakeman - Delidah's silly almost superhero-sounding name taken from Arenfel's typo'd surname "Serpentine".

Serpentshrine - Samain and his son Bismack's inability to remember Arenfel's surname, they call him Serpentshrine; much to his ire.

Whitescalp - Affectionate nickname given to him by Xiaojing.

Bastard/Old Man/Stupid Mage - Most people.

You forgot Cunten-(insert constantly changing last name with cat-creature then something that rhymes with heart, for example CatTart, Ocelotfart, Tigercart, panthersmart, cougardart etc...)
