Dark Ranger, with Blood Elf model
I have started to wonder, how do people feel about a Ranger dying then being brought back as a Dark Ranger type character, but still using the Blood Elf game model rather then changing it to a Forsaken/undead model.

I don't see any problem with it, personally.

What I am kind of wondering is if it would actually be the same as a dark ranger. I mean, weren't their spirits ripped from their bodies to roam around as banshees before they returned to their bodies and took posession of it?
Which brings up the questions: would your spirit hve to be turned into a banshee first? Who would even have the power to do that? And why would they do that to your character?
And if it actually is plausible, you should go for a Bloodfang hood or one of it's recolours for the red glowy eyes

Negative. Many dark rangers are former banshees, but not all. A dark ranger is any former elven ranger of Quel'thalas that has been forcibly risen into undeath and subsequently learned shadow magic (namely, necromancy).

I see, only knew the first type, learned something again today
Had been pondering this road for when my rogue were to die as her mentor is a forsaken, but she's way too interesting with a living body and her mind stuck somewhere in purgatory at the moment. :p
Though another question: Doesn't Celistra hate undead?

The question is more how (s)he would be risen. I thought the Val'kyr could only rise humans... I don't know for sure though.
I don't know the site, but google WoW Transmog sets... I know a few sites have Dark Ranger-ish looks.

Val'kyr can only raise humans. But the Forsaken have actual necromancers as well, such as Helcular and Gunther Arcanus. They're just rather rare.

Yes Celi hates undead. she hates them alot, which is one reason it would be interesting to one day go there.
I would likely just RP out the eyes in emotes and MRP/TRP rather then use something that gives the red eyes, but thats just me

Would she not commit suicide the moment she turned undead then?

I think you could ask this of all undead, to be honest, so I don't know if it is the necromancy magic forcing your will or the necessity to cling onto life in any form but I can't think of an undead who has killed themself. It must take a LOT of willpower to achieve considering how many humans hated the undead before they became one themselves.Emrys wrote:Would she not commit suicide the moment she turned undead then?
EDIT: I also support the idea. I think it looks a lot better than a Forsaken female being a dark ranger. Pale skin is a bonus if your char has it!

Well, a lot of undead were not free of will when they first became undead, the Death Knights nor the Forsaken had much time to think about how they felt about being undead. So I suppose when they came to their senses they had already somewhat gotten used to the feeling of being undead. (These are my feelings on the subject however.)
My own Death Knight has always been a warrior-woman, so she came to consider undeath as something that gave her unholy strength and endless endurance, thus embracing what she became.

Any Anethionean in their right mind would. Or at least go to their fellow Faithful and seek out a merciful end!

Very good point... I hope WoW covers this at some point, otherwise the Forsaken will be a little stumped in recruitment.Emrys wrote:Vaell wrote:I think you could ask this of all undead, to be honest, so I don't know if it is the necromancy magic forcing your will or the necessity to cling onto life in any form but I can't think of an undead who has killed themself. Iltharen points at you and /lol's!
The Cowl is a go, I'e seen people around other servers wearing a Dark Ranger costume. Just don't show any flesh, cover yourself with rogue look-alike gear and it'll do. Im sure you can get some easy pieces from Karazhan and Gruuls derp lair.

I've played with the idea myself, and I say, why not? If you think a Dark Ranger would be fun to play, go for it.
