A Morbid thought Empty A Morbid thought

Post by Zouyo Sat Aug 11, 2012 11:58 am

A thought crossed my mind recently... given recent events with all the shootings and stuff going on...

If you were to accidently wind up in a car crash, or gunned down.. or even just due to old age... How would you want your characters to end?

For my living characters that aren't immortals: Probably either old age if he icly reaches that stage, or if not that, then some meaningful death.

For my undead characters: Probably just lurk around in the shadows, in Angealions case ever watching the kingdom of Quel'thalas and trying to keep it safe without drawing attention. Solanna probably lurking around and teaching new Cultists about Shadow and demon stuff if thats the knowledge they seek... or necromancy stuff since she doesn't trust the val'kyr.

For Ikuze (since night elves aren't exactly immortal anymore to my knowledge): Sticking around the Blue Recluse and watching over the descendents of her friends, teaching them history and magic, or heading off to Outland to go over old memories and reconcile...

So what about you guys? How would you want your characters to end if you were unable to continue playing?

Robi will die killing Arli probably. If ever a pair deserved to die at each others hand or in each others arms its those two.
Chey will die of boredom in Silvermoon.

If I was on my death bed, the last thing in my mind would be...
"But... Vaell was... be-bec-becoming a m-mage hun...hunter. Please... So-Someone log on and h-have him die in a... self sacrif-"

BUT if I was to quit WoW, I would do the following RP before leaving (not what I really want for the characters, but something fun before I go);

Vaell - Falls to corruption and can be killed by Arenfel or Kazbo.

My other characters I'm not too bothered about having epic or meaningful deaths. So for all of those, malaria will do.

Despite the fact I wouldn't be remotely concerned about my RP characters upon the occasion of my demise...

Well, I've already killed one due to a nice mix of old age and illness.

Let's see...

Ledgic - Dying at the hand of the kind of person he'd loathe to be killed by. So, someone that has been nothing but trouble all his life etc. It sounds crappy, since such a big part of his character growth has come from overcoming these obstacles. It just seems that someone that came from absolute shit, should die in the same fashion.

Omanos - Old age/self-sacrifice. He's definitely the type to die to save another person. Still, if nobody gets stupid around him, I can see him throwing bread to ducks etc while talking old people crap.

Eothan - Alcohol related demise/during intercourse. It's about the only two things I can think of. He wouldn't die for someone else, he certainly wouldn't allow himself to be bested by crap. So, yeah. Booze or the funky love.

The others I couldn't really say. Haven't played them frequently enough.

So your dying thought will be about your role-playing characters?

That's sweet.

I'm not suggesting that you per-say on your death bed go "Oh, give me a minute whilst I kill off my rp characters". No.

No the idea is how would you want others to see how your character dies, given that you would actually be unable to continue playing or shit. Not suggesting that you'd actually be the one to kill them off since well, you're dead.

Why be so fatalistic about it? You don't have to kill your characters when you die. You don't even have to have them sail away on gray-sailed ships. Just allow things to run their natural course.

People drop out and in of the game all the time, and more often than not, their characters just fade out of existance as they are no longer being role-played.

That's what would happen. You would stop role-playing your character, and it would slowly fade away out of people's memories.

Did you ever consider the fact that, before you started playing your character, that he was supposedly already in the universe already?

So will he be after you stop role-playing him. It will be the same as the time before you started.

And it's good that way.

I agree with Thelos, but if I have to decide a death for my characters...

Dréfurion would probably die in a stupid (but selfless) act, probably trying to help someone, get himself surrounded by let's say Horde trying to save someone else.

Nalira would get herself killed in her murderous zeal, overextending herself in enemy terrority or taking on too many foes by herself. She would be at peace with that.

Kumanaan would kill himself with chronomancing; Either because he finally decides to use his knowledge and gets shot down by someone who doesn't approve of ffing with the timeline, or overwhelming himself with too much arcane power.

Is it though? It would be enjoyable to do something a bit more entertaining with them if you know you're quitting for good. I'd rather create a bit of excitement and give them an ultimatum considering they're fictional characters inside a world of crazy!

Hmm. Had I died this wouldnt have been pre arranged. So for that in mind.. I would have trusted that those I play with the most on each char, decided what had happened. *nods*

Kavalis would die while hunting some powerful magic-user or trying to retrieve some powerful artifact since those two things are basically all he does.

Ixirar already died fighting Ragnaros' forces in the Firelands (or, is presumed dead, to give way for a possible "I regret moving to Sylvanas so I'm bringing ixirar back" scenario)

Debri would probably have some sort of near-death experience and go into exile for the rest of her life. This is the explanation I'm going for untill the day when/if I decide to move her back from Sylvanas.

Leeria will probably be slain by some paladin sooner or later. I think if she were to die of old age we would have to wait a veeeeery long time, seeing as she is a DK.

Simaria: Hm, I don't know to be honest. Killed, most likely, Assassinated? Or in a failed mission.

Arelyn: A glorious death fighting in the name of the light. She is not one wanting to die in a bed.

Mirillia: She want to grow old, healing and taking care of others untill she draw her last breath.

I really don't know how my char would die, because at the moment they have not compelling storylines which would drive them on a situation much different than 'he dies of old age'. Still, I agree with Vaell that, if I know I won't play anymore with a char, feels right at least to give some fun to other roleplayers: it was what I tried to do when I chose to end John Grenier's life(I was thinking about leaving for AD and it just felt right anyway, now I partly regret it, but it's not a real issue): being an evil cultist, I made an event with the other cultists and the DoLs, which I hope was fun for all those involved, in which he definitely died.

Richard Longknife Blackfur would probably die in a prostitute's bed, or heroically trying to defend whom he feels are 'his' people.

Decurius would die in battle as well, being a DK who's lost any kind of hope, and goes on just to feed his need.

Grenier Blackwrath has the most open story, at the moment: he could die in battle, he could give in to his addiction to fel to the point to die of it, or he could be reached by some mage-hunter and get killed trying to defend himself or his Unit.

Raenmar would want to die saving someone. Doesn't matter who, there are very few people he wouldn't risk his life for. He wants his death to be useful. And I guess partly he thinks maybe, if he gave his life for someone, he'd be appreciated.

I wanted him to die that way too, until recently. He deserves better. I was actually gonna kill him off a while ago with a heart attack, when he was at a really bad point in life. He'd tell everyone to fuck themselves and crawl off to Duskhaven, look down at his old home and write his last journal entry, reflecting on the last few years, and the pain would ease and he'd think about his family and.. die Neutral

Some complications and then the guild needed me back, so I never got round to it. Still want him to die that way when I do leave, though.

Not sure if I would want my characters to die.. so here's a mixture of what I feel would be fitting. If I wasn't playing WOW anymore.

Lin'ith: Being the academic she is would no doubt end up returning to lecturing within Silvermoon City, perhaps after suffering a crippling wound that snubbed her once reignited dreams of discovery.

Jovvie: Would be the happiest of the lot, he'd probably open up a diner and marry some fellow goblin for his/her heart and business head, he's not the brightest ' shaman ' in the Earthern Ring, but he's incredibly kind and gentle.

Victoria: Now.. Vec has died, -twice-. I don't really know where I could leave her, she's such a fiery character, I almost feel like any finalé wouldn't be grand enough, if I had to choose something, that I feel would be the most plausible. She'd be leading an squad of deathstalkers, be surrounded by Paladins and be put to holyfire, of course.. taking a few ignorant light-lovers with her.

Emberstone: Would become a recluse and no doubt take up residences within the mountains of Gilneas, offering tutorship to any young Elementalist that approached her, she would be the lonely and regretful old woman with a fountain of knowledge to pass along to a young upstart.

Dunderholm: Most likely his ambition will get the better of him, that or his arrogance. Most idealy he ends up stalking and doing the bidding of the shadow untill the end of time.

Sarrif: Not sure. He is quite insane, so he will most likely make a lot of enemies along the way. Shadow knows he already has some.
