[A] The seven Blademasters and their teachings
Sup my ninjas.
I've this idea and I'm really not sure how to explain this. I wanna make an event (already practicing with the Freelancers on Norrian) where I'll get to show off several different fighting styles with different purposes. First one is a 1v1 specific style, second one is more defensive then offensive, third one is a dual-wielding style with light or mail armors and that kinda stuff. I wanna do this so I can widen up newbies and passive people's perspective of fighting and show them how far they can go to make their character look cool and not be imba at the same time, in my opinion.
In my trainings I pay special OOC attention to everyone interested for stuff like how many actions can you do in a single emote, how many emotes should your char be able to perform before getting tired, what weapons should he use and why. How would he be able to combine his own attacks with those of his pet or with an ally.
So yeah, let me know if there's any interest in my stuff. I'm even willing to listen to people with ideas or even invite them for a lesson or two themselves.
I play mostly on Norrian.

A cool idea to aid people in Emote fighting, just make sure you don't make it -too- realistic! This is still a fantasy world where someone could do some Achilles in Troy fighting and not seem unusual!

Ah, but of course. I intend to make a tendency to do cool stuff like "misses with his massive mace but smashes the ground and makes a small quake that causes nearby apples to fall off a tree" or "the blades connect and big sparks fly and cause a small fire right next to the foot of -insert spectator here-"

Looks like somebody caught the monk-fever a little early!
I'm definately interested in taking a peek at this. Hit me up in game sometimes if you decide to do it Alliance-side!

Monks? Thats just rude! I bet a Rogue like class could take on the Monk any day. Deception > All .
Also fantasy ya, thats why i crafted a "Fan of knives" like ability, but even still it's not too OP but cool and fantasy worthy, plus you can only really use it once a fight. It's kind of a Musket thing, but A lot of Darts flying in every direction.

Actually, I must confess that the thing that motivated and inspired me to do this were the Star Wars lightsaber forms and the resent several changes of character I had of late
I'm one of those people that don't like the pandas. Plz don't turn this into a panda argument. There's another thread for that

Oh... Well, the event is planned for alliance side Should have mentioned that earlier. The "blademasters" are part of some arena fighting games sponsored by those seven blademasters, which in turn are all from Norrian's now extinct family. Sorry about the missleading information

Re: [A] The seven Blademasters and their teachings
Well I do confess I did no reading whatsoever about the blademasters. I did not assume that there's actually a type of persona blademaster I though that a blademaster means a damn master of blades! Shiet, son.
More seriously, "The Blademasters" was the name of the group of people that are the fathers of the said styles. As soon as I decide to make the event/s I'll post the story in another section.

Re: [A] The seven Blademasters and their teachings
I know this is supposed to go in the Event section but we already started to discuss this.
So, Saturday, 19:00h server time we meet up in the keep. We will start a long walk to Moonbrook and discuss why everyone fights and the types of fights there are as we get there. There's a great bit of good talkin' we can do. When we get there I'll give a brief overview of the seven styles and finally, if there's interest, we can start practicing.
ICly people should just talk about this so that it may gain some popularity. No fliers or posters or anything Matt can't afford any advertisement
Hope to see some people there.

The term "Blademaster" does make a lot of people think "orc" straight away.

Re: [A] The seven Blademasters and their teachings
"The Blade masters" is what people refer'd to the original seven dudes 'n dudette that made the seven styles of blade combat. Those 6 guys and a chick were gladiators and after that became scholars. I'll finish up the story tonight if I have the time and post it in the IC section. Think of an organisation. Example is a guild called "The Scarlet Something" that has nothing to do with the scarlet crusade.

I'm pretty sure a bunch of Human Arena-goers didn't stop and go..

Re: [A] The seven Blademasters and their teachings
Blademaster, as in the Warcraft term, doesn't simply refer to people skilled with blades. Blademasters were as far as I know imbuing their martial prowess with powers of the spirits. So, sort of like a Death Knight, only instead of being dead he's alive and instead of arcane/fel shadow magic he uses spirit magic. This is also why they were able to become invisible at will and why they had the Mirror Image ability.

Re: [A] The seven Blademasters and their teachings
It's okay though. I see no reason why a bunch of dude with swords couldn't call themselves "The Blademasters". Just keep in mind that the word "Blademaster" invokes a certain set of expectations from warcraft geeks.

Re: [A] The seven Blademasters and their teachings
((Well here it is. I am fairly sick untill now to argue with some of you guys around stuff that has little to none importance so I replaced Blademasters with Armsmasters.
Unfortunately I've no access to the Library section Placing it here. If I resolve this with one of the Admins I'll move it there 'n sorry for the typos. I don't seem to have spell check here. ))
I will offer lessons in the Seven Styles of the Norrian Armsmasters for free to anyone who wishes. I only wish that you tell your children and your children’s children where you learned from. And perhaps one day, when they are mature enough to understand, you may tell them the rest of our story.
Perhaps the murderer of my family will read this and come try and finish the job. I would praise the Light if that was to happen.

- Spoiler:
- I remember the days of old when the Norrian clan were fighters of honor. Our ferocity and arms mastership was legendary throughout the lands of Gilneas and beyond.
Who am I and what do I want? My name is Matthew Norrian, the last of the Norrian clan. The last armsmaster. I want to tell you all about myself and my clan. Why? Because I’m a warrior of the alliance, a soldier. A fighter. A renegade. I won’t live forever and I sure as hell don’t have the will nor the ability to start remaking nine generations of Warriors. It’s my father’s last will – to immortalize the Norrian Clan. This is a bit too much for me but I haven’t done anything significant in my life. Might as well start trying now.
Our clan started off almost 10 generations years ago in a small village around thirty kilometers from where Gilneas stands today. We were farmers. Back then we had a three kilometer corn plantation and several other smaller plantations. We were not under the banner or protection of the City. We paid no taxes and we were not requested to. The remnants of the Arathi moved in or our lands and were left to do as they please with the land. The elders believed that there’s enough for everybody back then. The sad truth is that a legion of farmers armed with shovels and clubs couldn’t do shit against the seasoned warriors.
Sometime after Gilneas was built the attacks started. We don’t know who they were but they were coming in every night and burning large amounts of our corn. Soldiers from Gilneas were summoned after the fifth arson. While the soldiers were on guard there were no attacks but as soon as they would leave the masked arsonists would return and continue. After most of our plantation was turned to ash the men decided to take matter into their own hands. The women would be sent to the field to work during the day and the men would train in combat. Over night supplies came from the city – fine steel blades, compliments of king what-was-his-name. And this is how it all started. Blood was used to water the future crops. And not only fruits and vegetables. That blood watered the future generations. As Earth itself grows children to become food to sustain us, so have we grown into something different.
The bandits were scattered – a nearby village’s feudal lord wanted our plantation gone so that he can sell his own corn to the city.
But my family did not stop fighting. Over several years they stopped calling themselves a family and started calling themselves a clan. The elderly did not want us to go on the brink of poverty and starvation ever again. They placed in a rule – every newborn in the clan will be trained in combat from an early age. They made a tournament in order to check if everyone was complying. The top fighters would be trained even further so that they may become a private militia for the Norrians.
A couple of years after the city’s administration heard about this and sent ambassadors with guards to inquire of our motives. Early one morning they arrived to our village. The elders welcomed them and explained why exactly are they arming themselves and offered to become a feudal village to the City. We had only one condition – the city has to defeat the winner of the Norrian Tournament in a one versus one combat. If our man would win our village would be free of tax for the half year. But if he was to lose Gilneas would take 25 of our males between 15 and 35 years, thus paying a weaker version of a blood tax.
I don’t know the elders’ exact motives to do such a thing but I believe that we could not sustain ourselves at the time. It pains me to say that we simply did not have enough food… and too much mouths to feed. Not to mention that almost no produce was being sold. There was fear that Gilneas will never accept a sovereign war-able village so close to the Capitol. There was an overwhelming possibility that a war could begin. We were not able to fight such a war.
After the meeting little was said by the ambassadors. They spent one night in our village and left. Several days later a courier brought the king’s answer in the form of a letter – he agreed to a duel and not a fight to the death. He also stated that he will not be taking younglings against their will. The Gilnean government would offer strong warriors to join the militia and the army instead and receive equal treatment to the rest of the soldiers. I know that there was a celebration then. And there was one every year in the Norrian clan.
Over the next three generations we had lost and we had won an almost equal amount of duels. In fact, the kings were so pleased with our warriors that one faithful day a noble family from Gilneas offered to finance the creation of a War School in our village. The Norrians began producing elite soldiers for the Gilnean army.
One morning, when my Grandmother was but an infant, we received word of a small Orc fleet moving into the bay with boats. Gilneas wanted us to investigate. A platoon of warriors departed but by the time they got there the orcs have already set up camp. Gilneas was to be discovered if nothing was done. While the platoon was planning a strategic strike against the orc regiment several scouts found them and were slaughtered where they stand. The time for subtlety was over. The platoon of 40 launched at the regiment of 200 head on. Under the scorching sun all of the orcs fell, their boats were destroyed and their ship was never really seen. Some suspect that it sunk in the shallow waters or that those were pilgrims sent to hunt. What was important was that only seven of ours survived - Anthon, Scylla, Thomas, Renic, Vince, Martha and Matthew, whom I was named after.
Upon their return it became clear that they had not only earned the respect of the entire kingdom, but they also brought spoils. Each of them took the equipment of their opponents. The warriors earned the master titles and were accepted as mentors within the War School.
It was later confirmed that they seized the equipment of Orcish armsmasters this is where the people started calling them “The Armsmasters”.
Being scholars, the several mentors began to document their fighting signatures. A distinct difference began to outline itself as more and more different masters began to favorite different weapons and armor. It is said, but not confirmed, that there even were arguments about which style is the best.
When the new generation stepped in it was already clear that this village is a war force to be reckoned with. It’s unclear why, but on the direct orders of a noble family that I would prefer to not mention here, the war academy was closed. ((this part of the story is under construction)) Furious, my Grandfather and his fellow Armsmasters closed the doors of our mansion keep and declared their sovereignty.
As tensions mounted it was my mother and father that managed to avert civil war. The younglings confessed their love first in front of my Grandfather and then in front of the Gilnean nobility. Both the Norrians and the Nobles were so touched that both families sent a petition to the king, requesting noble status for the Norrian Clan so that Maxwell, my father, and my future mother Dyna may wed among the nobility.
After several days of waiting noble status was granted and my parents wed in the same ceremony. However, at the request of my Grandfather the teachings of the Seven Armsmasters were no longer open to the public. Instead, the Norrians would supply the Gilnean nobility with loyal warrior mercenaries whenever a situation occurs.
Our mansion was one of the first to fall to the worgen when the civil war broke. But we were also one of the first to snap out of it. I don’t remember much about the night when my mother and father were bitten. I fainted or was just asleep. It happened quickly. Until I realize what exactly is happening I was already under the oak tree and two worgen were trying to subdue and heal me.
It was not only the worgen that had attacked us. The forsaken were also involved. I did not give my healers any time to explain to me. I rushed back to our mansion with my newly gained worgen form. I was faster than the friendly worgen that were chasing after me and soon lost them in the woods.
As I approached the shattered gate it began to come back to me – the druids had found us sever hours before making contact with the rest of the Gilnean citizens. They managed to partially subdue the curse so that we do not tear ourselves to pieces as they struggled to make contact with Gilneas and the feral worgen. The inhabitants of our mansion were wandering around aimlessly for hours, staring blankly at the walls and terraces as the strong druidic spell soothed our minds. Most of that time is a blur. I remember the forsaken infiltrators marching through the gates. I remember fighting them. Biting them.
But there were others among them. Stronger, smarter and less afraid of us. Their leader was a giant male draenei. Without our minds and our abilities to wield weapons we were no match for them. I remember around 15 men in a circle fending us off, striking down wave after wave after wave. One hit me with a glowing skull of necromancy and did something to me. I began to flee.
As I ran back, the beast in me wanted only to do battle but the human in prayed that my family is alright.
Unfortunately that was not the case. They were all killed. I must confess that the story is too traumatic for me to go on so I will skip the part where I spoke to my dying father. I will merely say that in his final moments he was not feral and that he asked me to immortalize the Norrian name. He also wanted me to have his blade – The same one that belonged to Matthew Norrian after whom I was named.
I returned to the druids and regained some of my sanity. The next night I fled, hours before the battle for Gilneas.
A lot of people called me a lot of things since then. I’ve been called a hero, a crook, a renegade, a monster. Perhaps I am all of those things. Perhaps I am none. What I know is that I’m part of the Norrian clan and part of the Gilnean nobility. I must not allow our name to die out after 750 years.
