[A] The Perenolde Claim
Introduction
The Perenolde Claim is a Heavy RP-PvP guild on the Alliance side of the Defias Brotherhood RP-PvP Realm. The main idea is to have a combination of game lore and medieval knowledge, along with aspects we find important in gaming; like role-playing and PvP content.
The challenge is to make this down-to-earth and believable. Hopefully we'll succeed in doing so.
We RP as remnants of the Kingdom of Alterac. People who are familiar with the lore will know that Alterac has been in ruins since the Second War; roughly 20 years ago depending on the source. Since that time there have been attempts to reclaim it. Most notably by two Perenolde claimants in the aftermath of the Second War and in a more aggresive way by the Syndicate the last couple of years.
Now with the Syndicate weakened, and the last Perenoldes missing: a handful of exiled nobles, their retainers, and mercenaries in their employment once again want to reclaim this lost northern kingdom. We are scattered, but not broken.
Objectives
OOC objectives
• To provide the Defias Brotherhood RP Community with a Heavy RP guild inspired by the Kingdom of Alterac.
• To provide a welcoming and entertaining home for new and experienced role-players alike.
• To provide the RP-PvP guilds with new RP driven PvP content.
IC objectives
• To reclaim the Kingdom of Alterac and restore it to its former glory.
• To garner more power for the Alterac nobles.
• To fight the enemies of the Alteracian nation
Recruitment
Of course we can't reclaim Alterac with one spear, a horse and a bow without string. We need able bodied men and women who are willing to fight with us. We want to have a bulk of native forces. People who're either born in the Kingdom or have lived there for an amount of time. But we also employ mercenaries.
As any self-respecting RP guild we have a two-phased recruitment system: OOC application submitted on our forums, followed by an IC interview. We try to be as inclusive as possible, and have nothing against teaching the inexperienced, but there are a few qualities we look for before accepting potential members:
Player Requirements
- Maturity: Age does not matter, and for that same reason we do not ask for it (in fact we prefer not to know) but our most important criteria for acceptance of new members is nontheless that they act mature.
- Basic English language skills: You don't need to be able to explain the difference between a predicate and an object, but there should be no communicative barrier.
- Be aware of the meaning of Heavy RP-PvP. It means we focus on professional and mature RP, most time of the day, especially during events.
This also means we engage in RP driven PvP.
- Be aware that we are not a Raid or Arena guild. It's entirely possible that arena/RBG teams or a casual raid group form within the guild as it grows, but don't be annoyed if there's no tank to queue heroics with you.
Character Requirements
- Be humble in approach to your character. “There is only one Arch-Mage on a hundred Mages. There is only one Mage on a thousand people.”
That doesn't mean we won't be accepting such characters, but you'll have to impress us accordingly.
- We cannot accept characters of the Death Knight class. Our IC leadership is far too untrusting.
- Be thoughtful of your character. Do some brainstorming on character facts like background, age, professions etc.
Anything that can help your character be a real character rather than an avatar.
- Be aware - at all times - that the guild is built on people from Alterac. As such, the guild follows goals and ambitions set by people from Alterac. Not every character fits in such a perspective.
Ranking
Our guild ranks are hierarchic. We use them to define somone's rights. Though promotion is possible, it is limited by your social status, just like it was in the medieval world. Retainers and Mercenaries can both become Officers. But an Officer can't just become a Noble.
Mercenary
Fairly self-describing. Can be sellswords of different specialisations and backgrounds. Can be promoted to Officer.
Retainer
A native to Alterac and military servant of a Noble. Can be promoted to Officer.
Officer
Retainers and Mercenaries in positions with military responsibility. Promoted to such in various ways. Bribery, loyalty, performance. There are many ways to the top.
Noble
Knights, Lords and Ladies that have an affiliation with the Kingdom of Alterac. They decide on it's direction and politics. Though this is a single rank, in reality no noble is of equal power. They are each other's equal in a hierarchic sense though.
Inner Circle
While all nobles are entitled to an amount of formal power, the real power in the order lies with the cunning and resourceful - be they nobles or common folk. These people are OOC referred to as the Inner Circle.
Game Content
PvE content will not be the focus of the guild. That does not mean, however, that we won't support PvE initatives of our members, or even take some ourselves
On the other hand, we plan PvP content to be a big part of the guild and it's events. Alterac has a history of being ground for cross-faction fighting and we like to keep that alive. This is however limited to the fact that we want all this PvP to be RP driven. We don't mind people doing OOC PvP but this will not be IC guild related. We also realise that not all military threats will come from the Horde. Many still see Alteracians as traitors. To this end we'd like to use a system that utilises War Games. This is to prevent cross-guild fighting slugging down into emote battles and to promote the actual use of tactics and game mechanics.
Ending Words
It is always difficult to convey the feeling and the idea behind a guild onto other people. One can only hope his mindset is interesting to others. We hope to provide a unique mix of medieval inspiration and game lore. While we're working towards reclaiming and rebuilding the Kingdom of Alterac, a noble might be plotting against a rival lord. Another one might be bribing his way into the Inner Circle while a certain swordsman might simply be working day and night to earn a position as Captain of the Watch. That is what we aspire to be. Vibrant, alive and down-to-earth. And if you're interested, we welcome you to have a look at: http://theperenoldeclaim.roomforum.com/

Re: [A] The Perenolde Claim
Looks nice but can you elaborate on this?
Does this mean you don't allow members to go OOC in their spare time?

And Gilneas welcomes you to the north too, and even if I can't make a char to join, I think my mage/hermit will pop over every now and again.

On behalf of the Gnomes of the Technocratic Republic of Gnomeregan, welcome to the north! We look forward to backstabbing you as part of our political masterplan to put the dwarves on the northern throne with us as their loyal supporters. You're gonna share bunks with Stromgarde by then, though. Don't drop the soap.
Cheers <3

We'll carefully consider your advice on that last thing. Being a gnomish exile in dwarf-land, you must know what you're talking about.

We like to thank everyone for the support so far!
Always an assurance when you know you have the community at your back. Even when it is a snakepit with a couple of bunks and one bar of soap.

Humpty Bumpty!
From a series of letters, part of the correspondence between Krenwith and Methrin.
Lord Daenforth,
I humbly request more chainmail and armaments send north from Ironforge. I am currently in Stromgarde to try and contact two more Syndicate cells and an Alteracian noble who's whereabouts currently elude me. I hope more brothers and sisters will soon join us!
Any word on more mercenaries in the south?
Scattered, but not broken.
Stay safe,
Lord Kernelle
That is right! We are still looking for more men and women to join us. It does not matter if you are a sellsword fighting for coin or a native from the Kingdom of Alterac. Both are welcome to the cause.

Re: [A] The Perenolde Claim
RPing the nation that betrayed the Alliance and the Humanity during the events of the Second War? Sound an interesting but challenging RP.
Also you have my respect for the unique idea. Good luck.
