Computing Woes!
Hola and hello
My laptop has been my method of play for some time now. And it's slowly and completely dying. I'm currently using a USB Keyboard as the onboard one is buggered - which seems from fiddling to actually be a MoBo problem. It overheats. And the screen is chuffed.
So...
I need a new PC (desktop, not laptop this time. The laptop was for necessity when things were different). But, as it's me I have a (very?) limited budget.
Can you help?
I will (obviously) need a case and PSU. I'd also need a monitor (I know that will take a chunk) and an OS (again, a chunk of money - not sure I want to start with a cracked copy). Has to be a UK company (I aint flying to the desert, Shae, to pick up one from some bazaar or souk).
Budget? Around £600.
I dunno if that's possible. I've looked at a few places.
CCL (Leeds based), this place and this place. Some others. Online purchases of this kind I will look into the sellers a bit. Because some people seem to have problems with certain sales (see some of the comments about Computer Planet on some forums...).
Help gratefully received.

Overclockers is a nice UK based (I'm fairly certain) parts site, if you're looking to build your own. I'm currently saving to build one myself! \o/

Cheers Feydor.
Looking at that site now.
I'm really out of the loop when it comes to CPUs and GFX. I used to tinker and make PCs. And followed things much closer. But I've no real idea at the mo, so a lot of this is me having to trawl through "helpful" reviews etc...

That is a very nice machine with a good price. Thats the good thing for £600 you can get a really nice setup. But yes a better psu is a must for the future . Also always check up on the graphics cards. You can some times get bit hard mostly with the onboard ones. But as always the cheapest way is to buy every bit seperate then you can truely save and make a beast. What I always do.

the graphics card one is a couple months old, but these charts are useful, and tomshardware as a whole is a grate website:Grufftoof wrote:Cheers Feydor.

Re: Computing Woes!
Is it worth pushing (over budget!) for the 6850? I've thinking something like this:
Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 4GB DDR3 1333MHZ Memory
Seagate Barracuda© SATA 6Gb/s 1TB Hard Drive
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (SP1)
XFX Pro 450W Power Supply Unit (Core Edition)
Intel Pentium G840 2.8GHz Dual Core Processor
Asus EAH6850 DC/2DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 6850 Graphics Card 1024MB
Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D2V Motherboard
With:
AOC 22" F22+ LCD TFT Monitor
And a keyboard and headset.
Comes in (from CCL) at £646
Which would be my limit for sure...

What I currently play:
WoW, Diablo 3, SC2, Skyrim (yeah... if it runs)
Nothing much more. But wouldn't mind being able to run those (very) well.

Re: Computing Woes!
the only possibly improvement would be to the CPU, 2.8 dual core might bottleneck the gpu on higher settings, depends on the game.
