And some German Heavy Metal With Balls: ACCEPT
And ofcorse I can leave JUDAS PRIEST out
I should stop here, so I dont crash and burn the forum with all the heavy metal I am capable of posting Yes besides rp this is my greatest passion. Now, how do I combine rp, listening to music and 4x4 offroading all at the same time?

I can almost agree with you..But Heavy metal has alot of sub cadegories and alot of bands in these cadegories ( thash, epic, nwobhm, speed-power hardcore, doom, gothic, progressive and combinations of two or more etc the list is long) It all comes down to what bands you like and what u dont...there are alot of good composers and performers out there, and others who are not so good and those who should just find another art that expresses them. There is always the main stream (big record companies that have cash to spend on junk they can manage to make the pubic wanna buy) How is this done? Easy...Alot of bands do write easy meaningless lyrics and write songs with not really any musical knowleage or talent and experience. A few studio tricks ( midi drums, midi guitars ect) to make those who ears are not trained to think they are listening to actual music that is played by hard working muscians.
Also you cant say all metal is rediculous because for one reason. Have you listened to all the bands out there? Ive been listening to this music since I was 8 and now im almost 30, been playing the guitar from 9, writing music since I was 13 and teaching for the past 8 years..So thats a total of 21 years of experience and I still havent listend nor played everything that has been written. Im saying this because its my passion and yet I havent expored it to its total end for it may not have an end.
To my opinion Painkiller is the best album Judas Priest wrote so on this we do agree. Question though did you try listenng to similar bands like Judas Priest? If not Judas is new wave of british heavy metal. All nwobhm bands have alot in common. Most have high pitched screaming vocals...similar rythyms, sometimes half step down tuned guitars for heavier sounding riffs, yet high pitched solos with well chosen licks, bass is usually groovy with low frequency notes to make up the back bone of the band along with the drummer ( unlike most modern day bassist that play more like guitarists and try to solo through out a song forgetting the beauty of the insterment)
I dont mean to sound bitchy but this is my passion and my profession, I make a living by teaching this well respected type of music (along with blues, classic rock, and hard rock) ( it was music or become a living farming bot in wow..w8 a sec I already tried that ended up spending the gold instead of seling for real cash )

Re: The music you listen to!
I've listened to a lot of metal. Music is also my passion and for seven years, was also my profession until recently when I decided to go back to university.
I do believe though, that I've listened to enough nwobhm/speed metal to say the vast majority of it comes of as ridiculous. Thats just an opinion of mine thats been informed by years of consuming music and coming to the conclusion that the conventions of the nwobhm genre isn't for me. Painkiller is an exception to this however.
I prefer metal that tries to push the boundaries. Technical death metal, atmospheric black metal, atmospheric sludge metal, stoner doom are all metal genres that I enjoy greatly.
An example of some the metal I'm into, if you're interested. If you're a guitarist, I urge you to check out the playing on Obscura and Our Blessed Frozen Cells in particular. It's pretty phenomenal in its use of extended techniques and chord progressions/rhythms you never usually find in heavy metal music.

This is, by far- the best track I've ever heard. I can listen to it for days straight and still not get tired of it.
Amazing, simply amazing.
