This GM was tagged for PVP combat and I had the smart idea to blow all cooldowns as rets do and blow him up. I chickened out halfway fearing a ban and got zerged down. He went Blueshield after. (Arena realm was PVE ruleset and there was no language barrier hence being able to understand alliance)

I always wanted to see the hanging of Lysle, seeing as there are stories written of him that glorify one character and shit on his, which is amusing in itself.

I guess this is the moment where I remind myself that DB has so much lore crafting that lore stopped being a frame for which we put our creativity in but an elastic band that's stretched as we please eh?

I admit I don't remember the hanging of Lysle myself all that well. I had completely forgotten about them until those screenshots. Though in regards to the one about the lore, of which pictures do you speak of? In the case of the naxxramas one I can say that The Aegis was their own circle of RP in that they weren't part of the usual RP crowd of the server and had their own RP and adventures as an RP raiding guild. Raiding is how they wanted to go out in the end and what best than to be slaughtered in Naxxramas.

The public execution in the Square. Stormwind really isn't set that way, it's considerably more light hearted and public corporal punishment isn't part of the atmosphere. Just think about it and have a look.

The other one, which I mostly understood from chatting to SGE when planning TTH-SGE stuff was in what way the Gurubashi Arena was used. I mean, it's in the middle of STV, for an Alliance to hold a tournament there is to sort of an open invitation to be killed (?), though I guess the killing is up to the Trolls living in the jungle to carry out eh?

Though in regards to the arena I think that was originally more of a personal thing Shrogan failed upon, i.e allowing Horde&Alliance into the sacred territory of the SGE in order to fight each other. Though I think that's irrelevant here.

Don't worry, I didn't mean the Naxx one, I think it's actually a nice thing to do. Generally people just leave and say goodbye, instead ya'll gathered up and did something different for one last time together.

They are nice screenshots, those who didn't play from vanilla can at least read and learn about what the realm was like previously. I can see why more things were accepted in terms of RP concepts and why they are not anymore, it's definitely an interesting progression to mark.

But honestly, DB 'custom' lore crafting (SW Council, Senate, Chapter, TDS, etc) has proven to have both excellent aspects and awful ones, and I think that in the experience of those who continue to frequent the realm, it's the excellent aspects that stand above the awful ones which is why in the end we're still here on whatever character.

But yeah, it's the public execution and the strange use of the arena that I get a 'wat' from, because I know full well if the Alliance tried to organize a tournament (or the Horde) and it was all IC, SGE would be down our throats as soon as they got wind of it! ( Premise for RP-PvP? )

I do believe that the Arena event in question was hosted by the Empire as a show of "We're stronger than you" (being their goal).

Oh, and who you now know as Coppersocket: Rizual, my first character to level 60, and probably one of the worst characters I've ever RP'd, but he was a testing ground. I'm glad I did use him for that, I don't think I'd have found my own limitations without him. He underwent so many changes. But the biggest change of all, was when he turned from a Tauren, to a Gnome.
