Re: RL picture thread
Copy pasting this for Vect here because I am lazy
VENICE!
Me and my big head in VENICE! It was so crowded on the water buses there. One time I had to lean way back on the side because of this old, fat lady who kept pushing me with her stroller ... not very pleasant, but very fun.
That was also when I saw this cute, little Israeli family. This little girl's hat fell in the river, and I fished it out for her and gave it to her. She was so sweet. My brother then started shouting at me for helping the evil Israelis ... lol.
And next was Rome! As soon as I got off the shuttle from the airport, the first bit of Rome I saw was a half-naked homeless man who flashed me and then proceeded to pee on the sidewalk in front of me.
St. Peter's Square.
St. Peter himself. His feet were worn down to nothing from all the rubbing and kissing.
St. Peter's Church.
Tihihihi.
Don't ask me what this is. I saw it one of the Vatican's seven million museums. ( I think it's an ancient blowup doll).
And the Sistine Chapel, where my mom started laughing hysterically and talking about how silly Catholics are after I explained the Creation of Adam depiction.... lol.
This was also another place where I nearly fall off.
And then Paris!
And the Seine ... I used to wake up every morning to go for runs along the river. I nearly fell in there too - at least three times.
At the Louvre ... tihihihihi.
The creepy staircase in our apartment. Also another place where I fell ... right after my sister scared me with the flash when she took this picture.
Barcelona zoo! This made me laugh hehe.
On top of Montjuic (Hill of the Jew) ... blew my mind.
Cute doggy that nearly bit my leg off when I tried to pet it.
Malta! It was so beautiful.
The Azure Window!
I climbed this thing ... in flip-flops ... it hurt ... a lot ... but it was so worth it.
A Maltese well with "drinkable" water inside.
The ruins in Malta were incredible ... there's this place that was more ancient than the pyramids, but we couldn't get to go there. :/
Sorry for the picture spam :p but be mindful that I had 3000 initially and I narrowed it down to some 30 or so pics! :p

I think it was damaged with something that happened in destruction of art/statues and whatnot if my mind not entirelly abandons me here <.< History aint my strongest point, below the statue you can see the original I think one how it used to look?
And damnit Shae, I am SO JEALOUS, you've been to places I want to see so badly, I -love- sightseeing and seeing these amazing places, never been much on holidays aside from England earlier this year and Norway last month *sigh* wish I had more money so much world to explore!

It is damaged ya. Every single artifact or ancient statue or whatever is broken up, but they're always rebuilt and reconstructed or repaired over and over again. I could nearly always see some sort of seam or line or whatever where the nose / foot/ hand broke off and a new one was attached. :p
I so would've but I was sent to Europe on aterrorist mission so I had my hands full :/.
And Nilda aww haha it wasn't all that nice (ok I'm lying it was amazing :p). I haven't been out of the mid-east and years and now I'm back here for another year *cries*... awful awful awful

Ya we went to Malta Italy France and Spain. I was so surprised at how cheap flights between EU countries are compared to actually going there uff ... it's insane. But everything freaking costs a fortune there. We live in a desert and 1 liter water bottles cost like 5 cents or something. In Venice it was like five euros or something wtf?!

That's because our waiters actually get paid.
But if you do make a stop near Brussels again, let us know! For 5 Euros... We have awesome beer..

Re: RL picture thread
The ruins could have been the ones on Gozo (Ggantija Temple). Unless you meant some others. And aye, they're 5500 years old. More or less.
I did like some bits of Malta the times I have been. Much of it is barren and they seem to grow sticks, goats and pumpkins. But it was beautiful to swim there.
I did a pretty similar trip (without Malta) myself. Good times. Amazing places. Great food! Like a proper Grand Tour. What what.

The ones in the picture are the catacombs. I saw the Ggantija Temple ruins on Gozo. Gozo was where the Azure Window was too. And yes it's amazing to swim there!! I went for a dive near the azure window place ... beautiful beautiful beautiful.
And I liked the "barren"ess in Malta :p there was a sort of lonely beauty to it ... if that makes sense. They also have GREAT food in Malta. They had better Italian food (and the best crepes I've ever had) in Malta than in Italy and France.
Their language is SO similar to Arabic too. It's like some kind of arabic but with a heavy italian accent. It was fun listening to them talk. I could understand them but they couldn't understand me, a bit like the Portuguese and the Spanish I guess? But ya, amazing places and great food. Except Spanish food. It's disgusting bleh

I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but around here bottled water could kinda be categorized as a luxury item since water is drinkable out of the tap anyway.

Re: RL picture thread
Venice is a quite pricy city, expecially the city centre; the shopkeepers there shamelessly cash in on naive/thirsty/hungry tourists. Same thing goes for Rome, Florence etc. more or less. On the contrary, visiting museums, galleries etc. is generally cheap, even free sometimes.Shaelyssa wrote:Ya we went to Malta Italy France and Spain. Venice is basically a city above a laguna/swamp, with a very polluted and even noxious water, that's probably why bottled water is so expensive.Saevir wrote:I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but around here bottled water could kinda be categorized as a luxury item since water is drinkable out of the tap anyway.
