Movie trivia: weirdly, the American version of the film (with a different name) is 50 minutes shorter... thats some cut!

John Mills (the main actor) is probably one of the most famous British (movie) actors of the 50s and 60s. 120 films or so under his belt.

Indeed, while it tells it's own wartime story, the payoff really captures the theme of determination against adversity in the simple pleasure of an ice cold lager. I didn't realise that American versions had been considerably cut though.

I was thinking the same. Never saw the movies but did saw some episodes of the series. Looks a bit like the graphics used in the series just a little pimped up.

It IS Wing Commander. You swine!

That's Jurgen Prochnow (you may have seen him in one of the greatest "war" movies of all time, and one of the most nervewrackingly brilliant movies of all time - Das Boot) (and David Suchet aka Poirot)!

Edit: Tchéky Karyo is the first guy... and he is Turkish by birth.
