I watch movies with nice effects, good storylines, etc. I once got told "The NeverEnding Story" was the best fantasy film of all time. So I watched, despite it being old. Guess what, it was HORRIBLE. Poor story, worst effects I've ever seen.

You find it horrible that is fine. Doesn't mean it IS horrible tho. As it's in the eye of the beholder and therefor relative.

Don't forget btw that the makers of the new movies greatly look at the old movies to get insperation and make new great movies. So some respect for the classics.

I have to add tho. Some of the new movies are great too. However they haven't passed the test of times yet. Only time will tell how great they truelly are. Also it sometimes look to some that in the old days only great movies were made. That's bull of course, it's just that the great movies get remembered and the crap one's forgotten. Same will happen with the movies from these times.
