^^ <3 you all so much!!!
And ya, gruftoof, it was an arabian sparrow or something, I think. Its parents are tiny, just a little bit bigger than the size of my thumb.

Re: Help Sammy :(
You know what would be funny, if you try to take a picture of the bird from the same angle every day, to see its progress in growing.
Maybe you can post some pictures here then, would be cute
Ohh... It flew away already My bad - I'm glad he/she is alright. Maybe he/she'll stick around your house ^^

Lovely!
All birds spend a few days of their young lives on the ground. They don't 'fall', they try and fly when they're ready. So they spend a few days running amok until their feathers fully develop.
It's possible to shove 'em back in their nest if they clearly have no feathers. Birds have the worst sense of smell ever. x)

Keep in mind though, like mentioned above, that a project like this will take a -lot- of time. You'll have to keep it warm and such, and feed it every 2 hours. My little sparrow (Named Jack, lol) just kept shivering and freezing no matter how many towels and blankets I wrapped it in, so in the end I put him inside a woolen mitt and made a nest for him in my cleavage. He seemed to approve of the bodyheat (or just the tits, god knows..) So I'd advice you to keep it close to your skin if you do choose to try and take care of it.
Lol, bird knew how to play.
Anyway, why don't ya try calling your local vetenarian and ask? Or...Bird-o-ligists.

Re: Help Sammy :(
when my uncle was young he found a jackdaw egg that had fell out the nest but was still intact so he took it home and hatched it in a home made incubator in his shed
he raised it from a babby and when it was old enough to fly it would follow him to school then chase children around the playground until they fed it crisps

I vaguely remember being told that you should never touch a bird like that because the parents will give it up for dead or something.
I think you're right though, there was no way he was trying to fly in that condition, his feathers are still matted etc.
Your best bet is probably to phone a vet and ask. ^^

Shhh, it's a trap! Birds have very little sense of smell. You can pop the ickle baby back in the nest if you know where it lives.
Little Sammy had some of her feathers already grown in, meaning she was on his 'ground period', where the babies spend a few days trying to flutter around on land. Their proper feathers grow in rapidly in this phase. Sammy was able to finally take off after a night in care. Since she's (I'm callin' her a she!) only been in care for one night, it won't really affect how she functions in the wild and will still learn with the other chicks how to survive.

This thread is a testament to the fact that natural selection can go fuck itself, humans do what they please!
<3 to Shae for sticking it to Charles Darwin.

Just felt the need to say, I whole-heartedly agree.
...Then again, I don't see that as a good thing. Essentially, being humans, we can (and probably will) blow up Earth at some point. Lord knows, if Darwin saw what technology is available in our time, he would've seriously edited his theory.
Re: Help Sammy :(
No he wouldn't. He was espousing a theory. A theory of evolution different to the norm (that of Genesis and Biblical theory). It wasn't about natural selection proving or ultimately showing mankind's superiority. Nor, indeed, would it show the opposite. We are not the betters of the world, nor of nature. Far from it. We are just different than the "history" we had, until then accepted as fact: that of Adam, Eve et al and the Biblical Genesis.
Natural selection is the pillar of adaptive evolution, we (as a species) evolve to adapt. And that could mean we adapt to a/for larger, as yet unseen, reason. Do we know what evolutionary path we are on? Can we adapt it? Can we adapt to it? Can the world still (Gaia, whatever) change us as much as we believe we change the world around us? It's a theory, all of it. Albeit the best we have. And regardless of how absolute some take it as fact.
Will we adapt to or because of "Technology"? Who knows, it's a very interesting view. But one, I think, that puts much more massive emphasis over the control that man (it is, afterall, our technology) has on nature than maybe we actually do exert. We do have the power, definitely to destroy this world completely. But that isn't genetic. It's just fucking stupid. But, quite probable.
Still, even then, life will find a way without us. Genetics will. They'll just no longer be genetics. They'll be whatever the next thing along calls them. Assuming we weren't the only thing supposed to be intelligent... in which case... maybe those old books were right!!!!!
And, no, I don't believe in Genesis, Evolution as laid out in the Bible or such.
My book is obviously The Lord of the Rings.
And as such, I'm a Hobbit. So fuck you all!
*goes to throw stones at Pippin and Merry*
And that's a euphemism, just figure out for what.

Most of humanity tends to be stupid - a fact that I can't deny, no matter how much faith I have for them. This includes both the "mega-rich" as well as the various "geniuses" of our day. An example of the "stupid genius" would be Albert Einstein - who helped create the nuclear bomb before joining CND after realising it was actually going to be used in war (which Einstein had extreme views against)!

Ooh! Ooh! Can I be The Picture of Dorian Gray? Everyone loves Dorian, Basil and Lord Henry Wotton.
