Re: Inspiration.
As many others before me have said, history, literature, films etc. But these two videos have probably touched me more than anything else of comparable length. Yeah, I'm not American, but experiances like this are universal.
And finally some inspiration a little closer to home, these guys were fresh home from Afghanistan and put on a parade to honour their Monarch. The first ninety seconds are personal to all British servicemen, presenting arms like that is declaring your intention to fight and die by the recieving officer's (in this case the Queen) command.
That thin red line conquered a quarter of the globe and gave Great Britain it's name.
A little poetry for you all.
"Their's not to reason why, their's but to do and die."

And Geldar, I never really took you for a fan of history, this is a pleasant surprise!
Indeed, let's just say that I voice and reflect most of what you have written there yourself, from Ancient Greek History, throughout the Roman Kingdom the Roman Republic and eventually the Roman Empire, towards the Dark Ages and the Crusaders, the internal strife throughout Europe, towards great men like Ceasar, Augustus, Emperor Constantine, General Lysander, King Cleomenes III, Richard the Lionheart, William T. Sherman, Erwin Rommel, Michael Vitman and many more, let's just say that History itself provides the biggest inspiration, learn and most importantly reflect over the great acts of so many men.

Jayse wrote:If you mean in terms of Rp or just general muse. I'll go with Rp. The whole spy genre inspires me. Film, books and games. Artwork and stories other people do and I think to myself, that's awesome I wonder if I could do something simmilar to that standard. And I have a go.
The warcraft realm is a great muse and RP in itself to draw all these things into because there's always something different going on you can visualise in art or verse.
Music is also a big muse, I love it. Most kinds of genres it all depends on my mood at the time.
It doesn't really matter. Just whatever you feel like sharing based upon inspiration, be it your work of art called your IC character, or personal. I'm interested in it all

If there's one person I'd find the most inspiring, I base Isabis a little on his visions, I'd say Jiddu Krishnamurti.
If you're up for it, have a look at one of his speeches.

Movies, 4 in the morning discussions with my friends, video games, books delicious beer and the occasional song gives me inspiration.
For instance, this song and watching Metalocalypse has given me most of my inspiration for my ongoing Dark Heresy campaign

Oh, a lot of things. Music some days, other days books. Sometimes it can be such a simple thing as an interesting face or something in nature.
When it comes to storytelling, and by extension roleplaying, my biggest influence is Joss Whedon of Buffy/Angel/Firefly/Dollhouse/Dr. Horrible fame.
Other influences include Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson (successor to the Wheel of Time series) and Felicia Day.

I personally prefer a quote attributed to Cicero which I found while browsing the web:
"Not to know what has been transacted in former times is to always be a child. If no use is made of the labors of past ages, the world must always remain in the infancy of knowledge."

When the perfect order prevails, the world is like a home shared by all. Leaders are capable and virtuous. Everyone loves and respects their own parents and children as well as the parents and children of others. The old are cared for, adults have jobs, children are nourished and educated. There is a means of support for all those who are disabled or find themselves alone in the world. Everyone has an appropriate role to play in the family and society. Devotion to public duty leaves no place for idleness. Scheming for ill gain is unknown. Sharing displaces selfishness and materialism.

"Get busy living, or get busy dying." This scene is one of the best references when it comes to defining hope in an overall amazing movie.

Re: Inspiration.
There is a reason why I found Jean-Pierre to be a fitting name for my character (+ Pretre = priest in french). He was partly inspired on Pierre Richard's typical characters in movies: clumsy, the underdog, the silly guy where the plan never works out as he tries, the guy that gets hurt whenever he tries to be more than his idiot self.
(To get a taste of Pierre Richard: )
I would say old French comedians and Monthy Python would be great sources of inspiration for me.
Other than that, the music in my car usually sets me in a good mood and injects me with a great dose of inspiration on a near daily basis

Re: Inspiration.
I get inspiration from just about everything myself.
Since I love music that is always a huge inspiration for me, as is fantasy fiction of course.
But I've had inspiration for stories and stuff from just paintings, even from a pattern I saw raindrops fall on a window.
I also get a lot of inspiration from my dreams and nightmares, since I suffer from Night Terrors I always have plenty of material for darker short stories which are a great release to face those horrors. Sadly being one of that rare percentage that can remember the nightmares when they occur it causes some great work at times.

Politics, my dear friend, is the answer. Note to self: When I get into politics in the future, use this quote for my own campaign/s. Sounds very similar to my Socialist ideals, in my eyes (i.e. Capitalism is basically based on materialism and hoarding one's own wealth; Socialism is more focused on the removal of "gaps" that prevent co-operation. For example, many people say Capitalism separates and segregates; whereas Socialism aims to close those gaps Capitalism creates and bring people closer as a community. As a society.).
Ofcourse, your political views are your own choice. I'm just saying, the ideological thinking seems favourable to a member in the left of the political spectrum.

Do you mind if I disagree with this? What you are thinking of right now is the social-economic spectrum, which has a left and right indeed. Yet capitalism isn't the opposite of socialism nowadays, it's liberalism. The ideological thinking can be used in both ways. You can decide if you want to be forced to provide for others and make studying a waste of time, or not be forced at all and let others die creating a separatistic society. Yes, I deliberately made both sound cruel and extreme.
I do not intend to start a political debate in this topic, I am merely saying that ideological thinking can be for both the right and the left. There is no favourable side to it.
Oh, and I am considered right wing, hence the disagreement. xD
My inspiration comes from music, movies etc.
One that almost defines this character is this song:

In my personal life, I am hugely inspired by just my friends - any of you who know Milathil / Camisha, a shout out to her for being simply wonderful and teaching me how to feel good about myself, and being so incredibly caring for someone who only manages to get on MSN a couple of times a month. Not to say that anyone else is less special - you all know who you are
Music also pays a lot of credit in inspiring me, but there's such a wide variety that it's really hard to pin down a single genre or artist.
