Where did all the goblins go?
Over the few weeks i've been noticing how quiet the goblin front has been lately. When Cataclysm first came, i knew at least four guilds who were aiming high and had great potential. Now when i talk to their original leaders they say "Well, we quit" basicly and some of them i havent heard of at all. And last night on an Goblin-only event i relized there propably were no other Goblin RP guilds left, i invited officers of all known Goblin guilds and made moderator. We were the only ones there, and even we werent that many. Been noticing how THDC has had a lot of people login more rarely if not at all for days/weeks, eventhough i keep regular events and try to keep the RP interesting.
So what happened? My first theory is people rolled alts to try out Goblins, and then after the first glow, they went back to play their main RP-characters? Or maybe roleplaying a goblin isn't just that interesting? Or maybe since they are new and fresh, they are more challenging to roleplay? What?
I don't want goblin roleplaying to die. If you remember there is a "GoblinRP" channel ingame, if anyone has a goblin they still roleplay, do join it so we can discuss possible roleplaying locations and such, for the sake of goblin roleplaying. I know i should have posted this on the goblin group forums but i thought very few would even check it, for the reasons i stated above?

Re: Where did all the goblins go?
Well that is exactly what has happened with my goblin. I do like my goblin and it has been fun to rp her the couple of times we have done so. We formed a guild (Azeroth Everything Co) and it is still there. I just rarely have time to go over the goblin side since Sunfury action has kept me busy.
I have not seen any of your planned events of anything but if there would be an advertisement of a goblin event on these forums in future I might give it a try.
Keep the little green fellows going on. You have been doing the best work so far

What about deciding a place where to hang around the most, so you could be able to find Goblin RP anytime? A tavern, a workshop, whatever. This could help sticking together. Or, you could discuss with some smaller guilds and make them merge in yours (if it's the biggest), in order to be more organized.

i would go with your first theory about goblin's
it was the case with the last expanision's new race/class all was expoldes then later your left with those that want to role-play said class/race

Re: Where did all the goblins go?
Maybe just not enough people rolled goblin as their new main RP character, you'd need a few people with them as their mains to keep the activity going. Maybe it was too spread out, why 4 small guilds than 1 good guild? Purely guessing though, haven't actually tried the two new races or heard much from how their RP is going.

Re: Where did all the goblins go?
I'd wager that it isn't also purely a Goblin thing. Obviously you can tell if a particular race is being RP'd less, but I've noticed a massive drop in RP in general.
I think maybe the 'getting bored with the shiny stuff' section of this expansion must be a little longer than the previous ones.

Well it seems very hard to measure how much RP in general is happening, imo at least. I've heard some guilds are really struggling but other guilds then appear to be very active, but even then I don't know about alot more of other guilds. There haven't been many "major" events involving a huge number of people but that's expected. There's still a nice amount of RP going on in some areas at least.

Re: Where did all the goblins go?
Just stick in there. its pretty normal that when something new releases a lot of people want to try it out, but interest vanishes over time. That's how this stuff goes all the time, but if you can stick with your own thing and are happy to have a relatively "smaller" guild then first estimated when cata rolled out, I don't see how Goblin RP or any other kind RP should fade out.
its rather normal that if you start big after some time activity numbers averages out, which comes across as a shrinking.
perseverance is where its at

The Greymane Era had around 30ish members online during the earlier days, even though we weren't accepting every Tom, Dick & Harry. Now we've settled down to an average of about 10-15 at peak hours. Its to be expected that things settle down once people have decided to focus on their Human Paladins and those who make the new races their mains stick out as the 'active' ones.

This is a good suggestion. And it's been tossed around that Bilgewater Harbor would be one. But i wouldn't want it to be strictly goblin roleplaying. It would be nice to roleplay with other races aswell as a goblin. And not too many other horde races have real good reason be in Bilgewater Harbor other then drinking. Then again, that reason alone can create some spontanious RP. But why would, let's say an Blood Elf go drinking in Bilewater Harbor, or an orc when they have their own perfectly fine taverns (with cheaper prices).
And about merging in to a one big guild. THDC is a legal guild, we do no underground marketing, sell slaves in secret, or try to cheat people out of their money in character. There are people who want to be the stereotypical goblin, basicly doing the opposite what i just said we do, gaining profit no matter the cost (heh). What i mean to say is, people have different interest in to how to roleplay their goblins. Merging to be one big guild would certainly not meet with everyones demands, and i certainly do not want people to join our guild simply because there is no other choise.
Why i think the goblin characters are going inactive is because, like said, it was the first boom after cataclysm hit. To try them out, and atfer that boom is gone.. People are returning to their characters they've roleplayed for years. If you have a "main" character you roleplay, and have done so for years. It's not easy to give it up just like that. Your main character always gets first priority.
Also about Villans and outlaws forum section, i don't see why i should. For the reasons stated about what our guild is like, we're neither.

Re: Where did all the goblins go?
I agree with Zinkle. Start up a tavern in Bilgewater or another place that opens regularly. Guldu's bar in Ratchet was very popular with the Horde and Bilgewater is even closer to Orgrimmar so you'd probably get even more people going there. Then your reputation increases and more people will make goblins to join your guild hence solving your problem.

Drinking? That's your answer to all your problems?..Dwarves...
My problem isn't getting people in my guild only, it's about actually finding any people who still roleplay goblins.

In that case, Ledgic got it right:
Just hold tight. Perhaps try to organize something like a war campaign, involving as much guilds as you can. People will eventually come back after reazling PvE sucks.Ledgic/Omanos wrote:I'd wager that it isn't also purely a Goblin thing. That is the thing though. Ultimately these smaller, lesser known guilds are going to die out entirely leaving only yourselves in that seat - Thus, as per DRS/SGE all of the Goblin roleplays will flock to you whilst those who would prefer raiding/PvP ontop trying to keep in contact with you.

Re: Where did all the goblins go?
In a case of a race only guild, unless the race it's over popular (like blood elves in TBC), it's almost needed to merge with others guilds. Only one of those guild will survive anyway. This guild will be the best leaded one, the most active and the most famous. It's apparently yours. So, just gather the still active goblin roleplayers under same banner. Even if you have to adapt your own vision of your initial project. It will only beneficiate everyone.
I'll maybe race change one of my character in goblin and join you guys if you accept an alt (cause my main is and will stay Elloa) du to the project I had talk with you in private, and because goblin are awsome !!

Re: Where did all the goblins go?
No, alts are fine, just as long as you don't "park them" in the guild. Aka login, once for ten minutes every other day to check your mail and then go back to your main.
