What do you reckon of this new guild idea?
The Sechalo
The Sechalo
Hello! The Sechalo is a guild aimed at hosting Tauren roleplaying as a Tauren only guild for the server Defias Brotherhood EU on the 25th of November. Some people on the server may realise that there aren’t that many Tauren roleplayers within a guild for their own race, such guilds as Mistrunner Tribe and The Grimtotem Tribe have been previous attempts to asylum Tauren only roleplay, but to this day they are inactive. The Sechalo plans to be an active roleplaying guild at the start of Cataclysm which works with other guilds of the Horde and facilitate roleplaying in areas such as Thunder Bluff, Mulgore, Bloodhoof Village, Stonetalon Mountains, Northern and Southern Barrens, Thousand Needles and Feralas. If you are interested in creating, rerolling, race/faction changing or joining on a current Tauren main/alt, then please read the details below!
Background of the guild:
The Sechalo were created after the death of Cairne and the Grimtotem slaughter of Thunder Bluff. During the Grimtotem slaughter, many Tauren were killed swiftly in the night, this included a veteran druid who had begun training his son in the ways of the newly formed Sunwalker path; after the death of his father, Torukan Sunwind was amongst the distraught Tauren and joined in Baine’s crusade to retake Thunder Bluff from the grips of Magatha Grimtotem. After the Grimtotem were exiled from Tauren lands and the Shattering took place, a great eclipse shadowed Mulgore; Torukan gathered like minded Tauren like his father, who believed in the balance of the Sun and the Moon, to create a society known as The Sechalo. These Tauren follow the path of Mu’sha and An’she, the twin eyes of the Earthmother, in the hopes to bring a prosperous future for the Tauren after their grim fate at the hands of both their brethren and the sundering of the world.
Ranks:
Note: These are ranks that have been brainstormed; more may be made to accommodate different roleplaying styles, but will remain consistant to the path of the moon and the sun.
Classes allowed: Warrior, Hunter, Priest, Paladin, Shaman, Druid
While the Tauren sympathise with Death Knights who were forced into service of the Lich King, we will not shed tears of the Earthmother for those who sought power and corruption to herald the destruction of life on Azeroth; because of this, Death Knights will not be accepted into the guild, however we will roleplay with those who wish to roleplay a Death Knight, Tauren or not.
The Elder (Guild Leader): The Elder is the leader of The Sechalo; he/she is responsible for leading The Sechalo, whether it is for peace or battle, he/she must make the important decisions for their followers. He/she is also the main diplomat for the guild, opening aid to allies such as the Orcs and the Blood elves, or opening trade with members of neutral/hostile factions, such as the Night elves and Furbolgs.
The Sun Guardian (Sub-Guild Leader): An elected leader of the followers of An’she, he/she is responsible for leading those who choose the path of the Sun, making decisions for them and is one of the key advisors for The Elder; he/she is also appointed ambassador for the Tauren towards the other races.
The Moon Guardian (Sub-Guild Leader): An elected leader of the followers of Mu’sha, he/she is responsible for leading those who choose the path of the Moon, making decisions for them and is one of the key advisors for The Elder; he/she is also appointed ambassador for the Tauren towards the other races.
The Sechalo Guardian (Sub-Guild Leader): An appointed leader of the neutral ranks within The Sechalo (Sechalo Guard , Plains Hunter, Wind Sentinel, Provider and the Elemental Herald), he/she is responsible to guide these Tauren and keep them in check, making decisions that may affect them and is one of the key advisors for The Elder; he/she is also appointed ambassador for the Tauren towards the other races.
Moonsun Warden (Officer): This is a loyal follower both the Moon and Sun, he/she is looked upon to uphold the protection of the Tauren and for guidance.
Sun Guard: This is a rank given to the most trustworthy Tauren who follow the path of An'she; they are looked upon to protect The Sun Guardian and the Chief anywhere they go. Loyal bodyguards of the higher ranks within The Sechalo.
Moon Guard: This is a rank given to the most trustworthy Tauren who follow the path of Mu'sha; they are looked upon to protect The Moon Guardian and the Chief anywhere they go. Loyal bodyguards of the higher ranks within The Sechalo.
Sun Veteran: A respected follower of An’she, he/she is a loyal Tauren who offers knowledge of the Sun to all and is a fierce opponent in battle.
Moon Veteran: A respected follower of Mu’sha, he/she is a loyal Tauren who offers knowledge of the Moon to all and is a fierce opponent in battle.
Sun Keeper: A normal rank within The Sechalo, this is a follower of An’she who builds the foundations of the guild, this can be a Tauren who follows the path of the Warrior, Shaman, Priest (Holy or Discipline), Paladin (Sunwalker), Druid or Hunter.
Moon Keeper: A normal rank within The Sechalo, this is a follower of Mu’sha who builds the foundations of the guild, this can be a Tauren who follows the path of the Warrior, Shaman, Priest (Shadow), Druid or Hunter.
Sechalo Guard: This is for the Tauren who believe their greatest skill is to defend those who cannot protect themselves and use their sheer strength to dominate the enemies of the Tauren. A master of weapons and prone fighting skills, the Sechalo Guard are a force of power within the Sechalo. (Warrior, Paladin and Hunter only)
Plains Hunter: A Tauren who is skilled in hunting the beasts of the wild; he/she believes in the balance of nature and that all creatures return to the Earthmother, thus does not kill with brute savagery, instead thanks the animals for their sacrifice so the Tauren's young and elderly can eat. Another neutral rank within the guild. (Not just for Hunters)
Wind Sentinel: This is a neutral rank within The Sechalo, who offers aid to both followers of the Moon and the Sun; these are excellent riders of the Wyvern or Hippogryph, acting as an aerial unit for The Sechalo. They also lend reins of their powerful flying allies to members of the guild, although this is restricted to two reins per Wind Sentinel. Druids have also been accepted as Wind Sentinels, using their great power of shape shifting to fly.
Elemental Herald: This is a rank for Shamans who may not particularly wish to follow the path of the Moon or the Sun, but to aid the followers of the Moon or the Sun with the powers of the Elements. This can be a initiate shaman who asks the elements to protect the Tauren with rain for dry seasons to a veteran shaman who calls upon the elements to cause earthquakes and lightning against those who would cause the Tauren and their allies harm.
Provider: This is another rank within The Sechalo. Everyone in the world requires resources, and this is no different with the Tauren; the Provider is a path for a Tauren who can provide resources to the followers of the Moon and the Sun; this includes Cooks, Fishermen, Alchemists, Engineers, Blacksmiths, Miners, Herbalists, Leatherworkers, Tailorers and Pelt/Hide Collectors.
Initiate: All new members of The Sechalo begin as a Initiate, these Initiates are assigned to a follower of both the Moon and the Sun to learn from both Mu’sha and An’she. Once the time has come where the Initiate is believed to be ready, they must undergo a task made by both their tutors of the Moon and the Sun, once completing these tasks, they may choose which path they may lead: The path of the Sun or the path of the Moon; if they wish for neither, they are offered the path of the Sechalo Guard (Warrior, Hunter and Paladin only), Plains Hunter, Wind Sentinel, Provider or the Elemental Herald (Shaman only).
Plans for roleplay:
We plan to roleplay in the stated areas above, but also in places such as Orgrimmar in the new Tauren district. We would also love to accompany other guilds such as Orcs of the Red Blade, Second Gurubashi Empire, The Cult of Shadow, Sin Belore etc, in their roleplaying, offering our aid to events created between our guilds. Random roleplay will happen in areas such as Bloodhoof Village, which will be our main location in Kalimdor; in the Eastern Kingdoms we plan to facilitate roleplay in Western Plaguelands, this will serve as a valid point to help our allies within the Horde (Forsaken and Blood elf), but also to accompany the Argent Crusade and Cenarion Circle who have helped bring life to the once dead lands.
Relations with the races of the game:
Orcs: The Orcs have always been valued allies of the Tauren ever since they set foot in Kalimdor, offering their allegiance to the Horde from the beginning, the Tauren have been gracious of the Orcs friendship. The Sechalo are no different, and plan to roleplay in areas such as Orgrimmar and help guilds such as Orcs of the Red Blade.
Trolls: The Trolls share the same shamanistic views as the Tauren and the Orcs, and they have been allies of the Orcs when the Tauren had met them. The Sechalo will always offer help the the trolls of the Darkspear, but also accept the Gurubashi Empire Trolls of Stranglethorn Vale as notable allies, considering their previous relationship with other Tauren, and their support during Elemental attacks on Thunderbluff.
Forsaken: The Forsaken have always been a questioned ally of the Horde, however many do not know that it was Cairne, leader of the Tauren at the formation of the Horde, who convinced the Orcs and Trolls to allow them into the Horde; The Sechalo offer their full support to the previous humans and elves, which means they offer their support to guilds such as The Cult of Shadow.
Blood elves: The Sechalo respect the Blood elves for the resilience against such dark times, such as the betrayal of their Prince, Kael’Thas Sunstrider. The Sechalo know of the Elves deep connection with the Sun, just like the Night elves with their deep connection to the Moon. The Sechalo are friendly to all Blood elves of Silvermoon City, and will offer their support to such guilds as the Sin Belore.
Night Elves: Night elves have been friends of the Tauren for countless years, their passion for the nature of the world and their followings of Elune (Mu’sha). The druidic ties between the two races formed the Cenarion Circle, and the Tauren aided the Night elves in the Great Sundering of the world when the Burning Leigon first entered Azeroth. The Sechalo, especially those who follow the path of Mu’sha, will offer aid to the Night elves, and while their ties to the Horde bind them to fight against their friends in war, they will always hold a deep respect for the Night elves, which include guilds such as the Winterblades and Natures Grasp.
Dwarves: The Dwarves are a race much like the Tauren; ancient, respectful and courteous. The Sechalo hold a deep respect for the Dwarves within the Alliance, and while they hold their allegiance to the Horde, they may offer their support diplomatically to the Dwarves if needed between the two races.
Events:
Prayer of the Sun: Followers of the Sun will, once a week, pray in the light to An’she; this will offer a weekly gathering of roleplay for the Tauren, and other races of the Horde, and maybe some members of the Alliance, to join the Tauren in prayer. This will most likely be held in the plains of Mulgore.
Prayer of the Moon: Followers of the Moon will, once a week, pray in the moonlight to Mu’sha; this will offer a weekly gathering of roleplay for the Tauren, and other races of the Horde, and members of the Alliance, mainly Night Elves, to join the Tauren in prayer. This will most likely be held in the forests of Ashenvale.
The Feast of the Earthmother: Every Sunday, the Tauren will gather at Bloodhoof Village and feast by the great fire outside, where they will converse, eat, drink and dance to offer roleplay weekly.
Gear and Mounts:
Considering gear, the guild will only be restrictive if they feel it is necessary, for example:
A Tauren wearing full Paladin Tier 2 set will not be allowed, it just isn’t the correct set for a Sunwalker, and is more suited for Alliance Paladins and Horde Blood Knights.
The more simple the gear, the better. Other than that, you are allowed to wear anything you wish, however the members and officers of the guild may offer you advice on whether you should wear the particular gear you’re wearing (such as Amani War Mask).
Mounts will be restricted in character as Kodos, Bears, Wolves, Raven Lords and Mammoths (This may change with Cataclysm as new mounts will be introduced) Flying mounts will be restricted to Wyvern or Hippogryphs (This may also change in Cataclysm).
Apply!
That’s it! Please give feedback and constructive criticism where you feel. Also please PM me if you are wishing to become an officer of the guild, why you wish to be in the guild/be an officer in it and of previous experience in other guilds. Once the officers have been chosen, they will all have the chance to apply as sub-guild leader (Leader of the Sun or Moon).

me and gramuth merely went with something all encompassing, but it was for a guild with a tri-leadership...
<the great Kodo hunt>
perhaps you could use a name like "thunderhorn Tribe"

An excellent, finely-constructed idea, and gestures like this
The Tauren aspect of server RP is indeed much neglected, and although our agendas are pretty far away from yours, you can always find some common ground with such a silk-tongued snakeoil-salesman bastard like Sinnadrin Sunfury. Looking forward to seeing you around.
G'luck!
are especially appreciated.A Tauren wearing full Paladin Tier 2 set will not be allowed, it just isn’t the correct set for a Sunwalker, and is more suited for Alliance Paladins and Horde Blood Knights.

Wait a minute. Offering help to the Sunfury Elite? Aren't they supposed to have that belief that Kael'Thas was doing good? I don't think the Tauren would like that. >.>

As I said, the rank system is not fully done yet, there can be different aspects, such as a civilian and military part.

Yeah, it's a rather...terrible mistake to put them as an example. That's the guild you don't want to get involved if you're in a Tauren guild like this, kind of like wanting to get involved with the Blackblood with a guild like this.
Probably better to say Sin Belore, or something.

Either way, this does sound like a rather good idea. Makes a fresh change from the regular "bog standard tauren tribe".
Good luck with it.

Overly simple approaches are never accurate. For clarifications, see: http://sunfuryelite.wowstead.com/Jakins wrote:Wait a minute. Offering help to the Sunfury Elite? Aren't they supposed to have that belief that Kael'Thas was doing good? I don't think the Tauren would like that. >.>
However, it is true that one major Blood Elf guild is reeking of Fel, and the other is running gay "weddings". Certainly not Tauren drinking buddy material.

Looks neat. Will be nice to see a Tauren guild going again. Good luck with it. Racial guilds for the underpopulated races is tough.

I realise that Taurens are the most least played RP character and may become increasingly underpopulated with the new races coming, however I am determined to not give up on this guild even during dark times. Also soon there may be an update, since currently many people have obviously had the same concept as myself to create a new Tauren RP guild, and I may be adding some ideas to my concept. (But it will be around the baseline of following the Moon and the Sun)
