Re: The Happy Post
I am very happy and content^^ It is awesome to be back on the feet when it comes to a matter that at least 90 % of the world is more than moderatly interested of. Shortly said, I am in love, I dont seem to be the only one either and its going good so far^^ Single life out of the window again it seems:) Work is great these days too, every other aspect of my life seems to be fine; except from wow that is, wow always gets on the bad side when all other things is working out:) Which is good too^^

I'm happy I might finally get a job, something I have failed to get in 4 years.

Similar to Jayse. But it was (as usual) a walk to work across the "Ridge". Frosty paths and skittering squirrels. A big cup of tea and so far... very little work.

Re: The Happy Post
Right. My parents are visiting me here in Hanoi so I'm showing them around a bit. And tonight we went to a small village outside Hanoi (or it was originally, it has been completey swallowed by the urban sprawl) called Lê Mât and had dinner.
What kind of dinner?
Snake. A small buffalo snake to be precise.
They pulled it out of a sack alive and dad (after discussing the price) accepted it. So they killed it before our eyes. Put the heart in my glass and emptied all the blood in a bottle of Vietnamese vodka. Filled up the glasses with the "blood wine" and we toasted.
Yes. I drank vietnamese vodka with blood and the heart in it. And the heart was still beating!
Then we had a delicious 7 course meal made out of the snake. Yummy.

Re: The Happy Post
I don't think it's sad that an animal is used to feed 3 people 7 courses and it is toasted for the food it gives. It's better than raping the North Sea for fish etc.

Re: The Happy Post
I have nothing against feeding on animals. I'm a strong meat supporter (in fact, in my diet I have to eat almost only meat). Just the way it sounded, having a still beating heart in a glass. Made me think of animal-cruelty >< Though reading again it wasn't specified how it was killed I guess.

Re: The Happy Post
The heart of vertebrates is "designed" so they don't need the brain to beat,. In theory, if kept oxygenated and supplied with nutrients it'll keep beating forever. It took me a good 2 minutes to muster the courage to actually drink the thing and it kept beating all along (and that was after all blood had been drained). So I'm fairly sure the snake died reasonably swiftly.
If that makes you feel any better?

Re: The Happy Post
I didn't think you were a bleeding heart (pun intended) vegan or something. Don't worry! I don't care if you are to be honest. But my point was it did not sound cruel at all to me. And I really do believe that an animal, if we kill and eat it, should be given some respect in that way. Not become a £2.99 Tesco chicken. Or a 99p beefburger.
Happy things? I made a spicy Caribbean sweet potato soup. It is delicious. But lacking in any meat
I do have some very nice chorizo at home though. Thinking of a pizza. Anyone want some?
