The Hour of the Forsaken
I've been reading more and more into the Forsaken's cataclysm epicness and it's starting to make me consider whether the Orcs -will- be the dominative Horde Race they've always been. Sylvanas is now the unofficial Lich Queen, the undying loyalty of most undead, the ability to raise more soldiers.. And Sylvanas is clearly not taking Garrosh's bullshit. She's clearly in debt and respects Thrall but one day she's gonna summon Garrosh and end that ugly bastard.
Anyway, what do you think about my first statement that the Orcs may have some major competition for 'top dog' in Cataclysm?

I for one respect our current orcish overlords.

Re: The Hour of the Forsaken
I disagree a bit with your view Anaei, Sylvanas isn't respecting Thrall at all. She's simply biding her time, working in secret and preparing for the future. Consider that she's never telling Thrall anything of her plans, but freely admits raising new forsaken to Garrosh. Not because she likes one over the other, but because she knows that Garrosh will tolerate it.
As for assuming the top dog position of the horde. I think she will, yes.... if it benefits her.
If not, then no. She'll allow the orcs to remain there and force them to take the blame for her actions (remember, responsibility always climbs up in chains of command).

Re: The Hour of the Forsaken
It was said all the way at the start that the Forsaken are simply using the Horde to cover their own arses; however, their problem is they won't be able to cover it anymore if they left the Horde. The Forsaken are nothing without the Horde and would fall, seeing as how the Worgen quest chain rolls out (I won't say what happens, just incase).
The Orcs will still stick to being the number 1 race of the Horde because, quite frankly, there's a hell of a lot of respect for Thrall widespread across the Horde and, if the Forsaken don't like it, then they're toast.
Think about it. What allies do the Forsaken have if they're already concerned with their numbers dwindling that they have to raise more? The Blood Elves wouldn't want to hang around with the new Lich Queen, not after their population and livelihood was torn apart by the previous Lich King.

We all know that the Blood Elves will summon several giant phoenixes that will purge the land of all that is not Sin'dorei (or at the very least beautiful).
Which means that even Vectoria will be going bye bye (unless she gets a real lower jaw and stops talking like a murloc).

I'll try to keep reminded of that thought when Cata comes, which hopefully won't be closer to Christmas like the marketing tools Blizzard are.

Re: The Hour of the Forsaken
I'm sorry but have any of you seen Kalimdor? The orcs are totally kicking ass in nearly every zone whilst Forsaken are in like.... three.
Orcs will always be the top dogs of the Horde because they are big, green, ugly monsters who have big axes.

Jomir, they're not ugly!
But I think just the Forsaken, or Sylvanas, is less affraid ever since Arthas died, and goes against Garrosh's orders for her own gain and profits.
Garrosh HAVE put her in charge, or ratherly, forced her to act. That she ALONE will have to fight in the Eastern Kingdoms and start claiming ground.
Meanwhile, the Orcs are focusing on Kalimdor and doing a great job!

Re: The Hour of the Forsaken
If you look at the Silverpine quest line, you'll find that even there, there are orcs who are helping the Forsaken out. I don't see the Forsaken in such an abundance helping out the orcs over at Kalimdor. This kind of makes it doubtful as to whether she'd have such balls if she wouldn't have the Horde backing her up. Besides, there's no way all of the races would respect that hissy, little mouse as a Warchief or the like, and no Warchief means no top dog. So no, they'll likely never be that.
Re: The Hour of the Forsaken
Paladin, because rolling anything else except mage as a belf would be failing orc 101.

Fixed.
Anyway, karma is going to turn around and punch her in the face multiple times, and then toss her into a massive volcano. You all know its going to happen.

Jakins will remind you of that, then I'll (or rather, Anti) remind you of the fact that you got a lot of help from the Dark Lady (troops, lobbying to get in the Horde) and we're the only thing standing between you and Worgen, Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes. All who kind of want you deader than we are. ...I think Quel'Thalas tends to fall after Lordaeron, and if Lordaeron stands Quel'Thalas tends to stand too..
So yeah, what were you going to complain about again? Do be diplomatic about it.

Dimplomaticaly speaking, belfs have more of an interest in the orcs since the orcs are owning UC atm.
And Quel'thals doesn't fall after Lordaeron, it only has minor setbacks.

Those orcs are actually our apothecaries' latest invention. *nods sagely*
And we have troops in Ghostlands Q.Q but yeah, you only have minor setbacks. Next time you'll all look like Kael'thas and my goblin will open up a plastic surgery shop in SMC. OH THE SWEET PROFIT.

Oh the sweet sound of "is that sterilized" "Are you allowed to do that" "are you sure it'll make me look like Haris Pilton" "You don't know what I heard at the market today", every day of the rest of your life, 24/7.

Re: The Hour of the Forsaken
UC needs weaponry, raw materials and plague ingredients, nothing more.
The Horde will provide the first, Goblins the second and we'll acquire the third ourselves (and while we're at it we'll make a new furry abomination too)
Getting back on topic; No, the Forsaken won't come to dominate the Horde in the way the orcs do, not yet anyway. They are most definately the rising star of all non-orc races in the Horde and might, just might, in the long term usurp the dominant position of the Orcs, but that is the very long term.
At the moment though they're the 2nd or 3rd most powerful race in the Horde.
Personally I'd rank them 2nd.
Orcs
Forsaken
Tauren
Blood Elves
Trolls
Goblins (not sure about this one, maybe they ought to be above the trolls)
