Just a note to those of you who don't want to play Jedi due to the heavy restrictions on emotions. That's something that won't come into play for almost two millenia in the SW universe.

The jedi of the old republic were allowed to marry and frequently did. One of the orders greatest Jedi, Nomi Sunrider, was married and had a son. She became the head of the order in the end of her life.

Basically the order was a whole lot more passionate back in the old era, much much more human than in the prequel movies.

...But what about Knights of the Old Republic? >.> Attatchment is forbidden there. I think it's part of the Jedi charm.

Actually, Attachment was taboo in the Old Republic era. :3

Attachment is not forbidden, but generally frowned upon. It became more and more strict as time went on (as opposed to real-life religious groups, going the other way) up until becoming considered completley anathema sometime around the time of the Order's destruction in 19 BBY.
