Pogeymon TCG
Righto, hope somebody can help me out here.
I've no idea if anybody here is into the Pokemon TCG because people always talk bad about it being nerdy. However, I'm a nerd so I really couldn't care less what people think. Anyways, I used to collect the cards back when they first came out 10 years ago. I only did it for a year or two then I grew out of it and such, much to my parents unending joy
Im curious about collecting them again, and I've been looking around at the different theme decks and I'm really glad to see theres one based around one of my favorite pokemon, who I really think deserves much more love - Bastiodon. It's the Mysterious treasures set - Armor Forterress. I love the strategy it plays of strong defenses and attacking the opponants bench pokemon unresisted.
Basically, I just need to know several things. First, where are the best places to get them in the UK?
Second, can you mix the different Diamond and Pearl sets together. For example, can I have cards from Mysterious Treasures and Magestic Dawn in the same deck?
And thirdly, does anybody of the age 19 + (My age) acctually play the TCG game?

I play MTG... That's vaguely a tiny bit like Pokemon. My local waterstones sells the cards, yours might.

You're calling yourself a nerd...around a bunch of WoW players?
You shouldn't need about worrying whether you'd be judged or not.
Otherwise, I used to collect the cards when I was younger and I do know where I could get some, but all in all, I don't have a clue how to play them.

Ah, the memories!
I can shamelessly admit that I too used to collect and battle with those, when they came out. Quit because of same reasons as you too...
Also for the fact that I was scroogy with my monies and because of that my decks were mostly thrown together from any cards I happened to have gotten my hands in...
I've never gotten the urge to restart the hobby (I did buy pokemon Pearl, when it was released, and tried to breed myself a tournament team, but found it was too much of an effort...)
Coming to your questions: I have little knowledge about shopping seeing that I don't live in England... but one would think there'd be specialised shops for trading cards. Prolly the same ones that sell Warhammer thingies (counting out the Games Workshop -shops). And there's the everloving internets too!
I'm not sure, if the rules have been updated during these years (probably have! xD), but atleast I never saw anything that forbid mingling different series together. Unless you find something specific (a list of out of date sets for example) I doubt that there'd be anything preventing you to have a little variety.
So this was a bit useless post,
but you cannot fight that feeling of nostalgy.

Ive got an 18 inch figure of Ash (Bruce Cambell) on my desk at work. So don't worry Oj, your among freinds
And well I'd say as Halya said, waterstones defiantely. Or go online to some card shop websites (easy enough to find) and buy them direct in the mail. Easy enough and can work out cheaper in bulk , say if you buy a box.
I can't play trading cards for the life of me however Closest ive got to playing MTG is the XBLA game.

Do you not have a Forbidden Planet near you? They have one hell of a collection of pokemon cards, usually.
Gamestation is also an alternative to Waterstones if you want reasonable prices.

Re: Pogeymon TCG
Hey all. Thanks for the uplifting comments We'll I had a look at the shops nearby today, but none had the Armor Forteress one sadly However I did buy a Heartgold/Soulsilver Mind Flood deck (The feraligator one) Which is a Water Psychic deck. It's acctually pretty cool, the Feraligator inside has a really nice moveset (Swinging tail - does 20 damage to every pokemon the opponant has) and there are a few neat combos you can pull of with Hypno and Eggexcutor. Hypno can use pokepower to put the enemy to sleep on a fli[p chance while I build up eggsecutor with energy cards so he can big eggspolsion to hell. Jynx is a good staller too with lick (Flip to paralyz) and all the while I can get Feraligator all energied up so he can unleash surf/swinging tail. All in all its a cool deck, and the artwork is nice too
I also bought a blister pack that had pretty crappy cards tbh. Only good ones were a Reversal Miltank that looks cool and I got a rare butterfree too. This butterfree is awesome. For one leaf energy she can heal the entire bench + herself for 30 damage, thats 180 damage in one turn potential - very nice. Also whirlwind does 60 damage and forces the active pokemon to switch
Because I got the butterfree, Im defo gonna get the Leaf Deck next because it has metapod/caterpie but needs butterfree to work awesomely. Anyways it's pretty cool to get back into the hobby again

Brings back memories, the playground alive with the sound of "I'll trade two Pidgey's for a Pikachu!", the massive wads of cards that wouldnt fit in pockets, the SHINIES! I had a special wad of cards that were only shinies just to show off - held with an elastic band of course (srs bsns)
Never actually played the game and only had the original series cards
Edit: My charizard > all

I remember how happy I was when I got my Charizard in a booster pack. I didn't play the game either and only collected the original series.

I see every single word, letter, number....everything as a different bloody colour all the time, even people, buildings, music...everything.
How the hell do you think I feel having to read typing all the time knowing it feels like I'm eating a rainbow?
Just feel lucky YOU don't have Synaesthesia.

Err.... wut? It's kind of hard to feel lucky if you have a hard time placing yourself in somebody elses shoes -- seeing it's hard to reproduce that state. But aaaaanyway; I gave away all my first generation trading cards -- had like a hundred of them. Good times though.
