Potentially returning player seeks advice

Hello again DefiasRP,

I left Defias Brotherhood when the Chapter of Holy Anethion moved to Argent Dawn. After a while of
leading that I passed the reigns as my motivation to roleplay waned. Shortly after I packed up and left
the game altogether. I'll not go on and on about my life story but I think I may return, but possibly to
Defias Brotherhood again. I've been playing the game Defiance, another MMO, and I've found myself
'completing' it and waiting for more content to be delivered. This has left me with a bit of a hunger for
more MMO action resulting in me thinking about World of Warcraft and Defiance.

So, being away for so long I have a few queries about the game, the server and roleplay on the
server if anyone would be kind enough to help me out. Firstly I guess I'm curious about the new patch
and what sort of content it offers. I've heard there's a questline, but it sounds like I'd chew through
that in a night or two. Secondly what's the hot-topic in roleplay on Defias these days? Anything major
happening or any particular themes that are popular? Also what locations are currently or potentially
going to be active with roleplay? Finally I guess I'd like to know what guilds are active and fun these
days, that are recruiting.

though thankyou. I've been left with gruesome scars after leading the Chapter for a few year.

I do wonder, did the move to AD live up to what it was supposed to be?

The Chapter is deffinitely in a different, more healthy environment than it was in Defias. The server just grew too accustomed to the guild and it was having trouble recruiting. With the PvP tagging off on AD the guild could roleplay up north with the Scarlets and a lot of interesting stuff happened and Cathedral Square gave a lot of opportunity to rile up the crowds with their hateful preaching, but I left a few month ago now so I don't know where it stands. Personally, I like both servers but AD is too overpopulated for my liking, it's hard to find your head in that place, very hectic.

A massive overhaul had to be made to the guilds values and procedures however as AD is very tolerant of dark magic users. It's such a diverse server that they have to accomodate everyones roleplay without blocking it IC, with laws and such. So they're lenient with that sort of stuff, so the Chapter had to be too. For example there are guilds that serve the Alliance military that are specialist units for dark casters and such that the Chapter couldn't harrass. Ultimately they became enemies of the Alliance and allied with the Scarlet Crusade up North in secrecy whilst still operating in Stormwind.

Regardless I have no intention of returning to AD. It's just not for me.

You tempt me, but I have no characters on Defias anymore. Is it Helmfrid specifically Ireth would be interested in? Would need to know to transfer or remake him. You can PM me if you wish.

It's experienced a bit of a revival as of late. My personal experience is that a lot of old faces have been returning and picking up projects again, and there are an influx of people curious to RP willing to try it out.

You will. It's an interesting questline to be sure, but the best way to look at this patch is to lay a foundation for the next one. It does add some new things, like scenarios (...yay.) and a new battleground I've yet to experience, but have heard pretty good things of.

Pretty much all the guilds that have survived since you left are still recruiting. Probably your best bet is to check the registry here, as my experience isn't too vast with this sort of thing - I've always been more of a 'fringe' roleplayer than anything, really.

Should you return, welcome back to the game! Definitely a good time to come back, as I said; Defias is on a bit of an upsurge right now, from what I've seen.

Ah I tried that too, met the system requirements but it just won't run smoothly Had to resort to Defiance on xbox.

I was referring more to a general sense of what I said. All in all I am sure we can work whatever you wanted out should you choose to come back.

Well I am back. Just levelling at the moment, planning on bringing Helmfrid back in-character after I return from London this week. Should be interesting.

Skarain is still around, in both good and bad should the two cross paths again.
