3. Adenah Thorgint: Pondering thoughts

It was still early in the morning when Adenah walked up the slope of the mage tower in Stormwind, she had been out for a brief walk before resuming her previous studies to clear her mind for a while.
The last few weeks she had remained within the city that was fairly new to her and where she still would get lost on occasion instead of returning to Stromgarde.

The young girl shook her head when walking into the shimmering green portal at the top of the tower with a tired sigh. Heading over to the desk she had been working at which was scattered with several scrolls and tomes. The surface of the desk was a mess, some papers scorched and others showed a glistering glow of frost as a result of hours of experimenting.
Taking a quick glance around the room she spotted a few others who had arrived early in the tower and one or two remaining at their desks who had spend the night continuing their studies or research.
As always the room was rather dusty and only dimly lit but it was something the young girl didn't mind, she preferred it over the masses and crowds elsewhere to be able to concentrate on things she found herself interested in.
Seating herself back upon the chair before her desk she lifted her hand to briefly rest it at the back of her neck, rubbing her sore and aching muscles after a night spend bend over her parchments and scrolls. Her eyes scanned over the numberous of objects gathered upon the surface and with a groaned sigh starts to gather them into her arms. The walk had not woken her up as she had hoped and there was no point in going on with her practice with a weary mind.
Clumsily Adenah carries everything back out of the room, squinting her eyes to adjust to the sunlight outside once stepping down the spiralling slope of the tower with a low scoff at the papers and tomes shifting in her hold and nearly dropping.
Upon reaching the bottom her eyes dart around the mage quarter and she halts her tracks, pondering for a while where to go.
With a sudden furrowed brow she looks down upon everything carried in her arms and begins muttering a silent incantantion before all the items dissapear in a bright shimmering as she teleports them away, freeing her arms.

“What now, I don't know anyone here ...”
She sighs to herself and remains upon the same spot a while longer. Clueless on where to go now that she finds herself rather alone. Things used to be much better when she was still with Drazial but it had turned out in much heartbreak and pain for the young girl and step by step she had found a way to move on.
Be it by the help of friends or even magical means, she had realized she was able to pick up everything from before. Despite all losses and the things she had sacrificed to be with him there had been things that had shown her it wasn't all lost and there was hope for her.

A smile slowly began to form on her face and a soft chuckle could be heard escaping her lips when the mage began walking forward towards one of the tunnels leading to the exit of the quarters. Walking over the bridge to venture into the trade district where she makes haste to pass the early crowds already filling the streets. By now she had learned how to get to most places within Stormwind but outside the magetower the girl didn't always feel at ease so she rather hurried to get off the streets as soon as possible.
Old town was alot less crowded this early in the morning aside from a few bypassers and the guards gathering outside the command center at the fountain for a change of shift or something alike. She didn't know nor stopped to ask when making her way into the Pig 'n Whistle.

Even with an impaired eyesight she spotted nobody she knew there and it drew a dissapointed sigh from her lips. Instead she quickly walked up the stairs to take a seat on the second floor of the establishment, her head held in her hands with her elbows upon the table while staring down at the wooden surface below.
For only a brief moment she somehow had hoped to find Vitto here, the young man she had met the first evening that she had arrived in Stormwind without any true purpose to be within in the city. Without realizing a smirk slowly forms upon her visage and Adenah lifts her head from her hands to lean back into the chair with a sigh and a small shrug. Her thoughts wandering but the amusement upon her expression rather visible when she moves her arms across her chest in a casual manner.

To her it had become clear the last few days that that evening had indeed made a change for her to move on, no matter how hard she had tried before by all means she could find none of it had helped much. Even if Raelan had done so much to try and help her, and now he had done so without her realizing ... untill now.
It had been his suggestion, head out to a bar to find someone who could take her mind off things. And at first she had discarded the whole idea yet ended up doing exactly what he had offered her as a solution.
The days after said evening she hadn't really found herself comfortable with what had happened, it was afterall not like her to simply go and pick up a man for one evening. However she didn't feel like trying to do more then that at the time being. Love had only proven to be hurtfull to her during her first experiences so her faith to find someone had left her ever since.
Or atleast partially, Adenah had spend many hours talking to Rae and no matter how often she had wanted to slap him or burn his face before all of this she had learned that he was a better friend then he at first would have wanted to show.

He wanted her to be happy as he had told her, and it was one of the many things he had said that had suprised her about how different he was then he would mostly appear to be amongst others. Showing that he did somehow care, unless she had missunderstood him. Even the constant joking or taunting from his part or between them when he keeps embarassing her is something she learned to value as something that he does to help cheer her up.
From all people Adenah knew it was Raelan who had stood by her most and tried his best to put a smile on her face, which is what she in turn had been trying to do for him aswell.

Curious as the young girl is at most times he has left her with more questions then answers when she tried to dig further into things. Leaving her to guess or simply clueless most of the times and it kept her mind occupied alot. The things he had shared with her about himself were often painfull memories and had explained alot about who he had become to her. She wanted to support him or atleast try and give him some answers to the questions he asks himself. But she didn't know how to. But that wouldn't stop her from trying to do the same for Rae as he had done for her. Put a smile on his face, even if only a rare sight or mostly hidden behind the mask she so disliked.
In a strange way she felt like he understood her and the way he had judged before was only to try and keep her from the hurt.
Snickering briefly Adenah looks up at the waitress who appeared to her table, interupting her thoughts as she offers the woman a kind smile while ordering herself a fresh glass of juice.
Once the woman leaves her side again Adenah shakes her head and brushes her fingers into the long strands of light brown hair and looks up to the ceiling, tilting her head when letting her mind wander again with a thoughtfull frown.

She should head back to Stromgarde one of these days to seek out her sister again, if she was there of course. Her whereabouts changed so often it was something she could hardly keep track off and she had found herself focussed on her practice so much that time had passed rather quickly. Raelan should be around there still she thought, and she did miss their talks and the bantering when he constantly teases her. Something that made her annoyed and ashamed mostly but it did make her smile and laugh when he did.
Always confusing her with what his intentions or true feelings are in everything, something that kept her constantly curious and wondering about what is going on inside his head. A mind she would never try to enter again after her first failed attempt. The sight had frightened her a little, be it due to her inexperience or simply the fact that the way he hides things was dark and gloomy to her and made her shiver.

Yet no matter how hard he tried he wasn't able to fool her at all or he didn't try anymore. She knew that his constant asshole behaviour wasn't really who he actually is. Many times she had simply looked past that charade of his and it made her smile each time. He could try all he wanted but to her he had shown to be a caring man who had seen alot in his life to give valuable advice to her and she did her best to listen. No matter how stubborn she was mostly or didn't see exactly what he tried to tell her, in the end it had always proven to be the right thing.
Still with a smile on her face Adenah exchanged the coins with the waitress who had placed the glass infront of her, inclining her head politely to her before lifting the glass and putting it to her lips to take a small sip.
With a glance around she closes her eyes afterwards and holds the glass in both hands and sighs. As for Vitto she knew she shouldn't get too close to him even after their evening together. The way he confidently had talked about the women he reminded her too much of Drazial in that aspect and he was someone she should keep at a distance if it came to letting him get closer to her. Perhaps as a friend but she'd not make the same mistake twice only to end up in the same situation once more. Once had been enough and she had learned the hard way how it was to be betrayed and heartbroken.
Lifting the glass with the cold and refreshing beverage once more Adenah takes a few mouthfulls before slowly rising to her feet again, rubbing her eyes for a moment as she silences a yawn. It would be better for her to retreat to her room and get a few hours of rest, she had spend an entire night expanding her skill with frostmagic and tried to combine it with the fire she already wielded expertly. But time and time again it had turned out into a failure and she couldn't figure out the reason on why she didn't manage.
It frustrated the young mage to no end and it had occured to her several times it might be better to leave to Dalaran for a few weeks again to seek out the archmages she knew from her stay the last year.
Perhaps she would do that before heading back to Stromgarde, she had set her mind on succeeding afterall and she'd rather not lose too much time with her attempts.
With a rustling robe she quickly paces down the stairs again, waving her hand to the waitress who had brought her drink earlier with a kind and warm smile before stepping out into the sun once more to make her way back to the tower and get some sleep.
A soft smile still shown on her face due to her previous thoughts and her wandering mind while she makes her way through the now lively city of Stormwind, humming to herself for a moment before chuckling and shaking her head to silence herself again.

Adenah sounds like a Thorgint. <3 :p

Well as the story says and like she told Faralan, it's been Rae who has been a great support to her in many ways ^_^
