Forum Game - What if wow was real?

Not to long ago I went to Brugge in Belgium. I couldn't help thinking it looked like Stormwind. So, the purpose here is to find pictures resembling spots in warcraft. It's not really a competitive game, but maybe its fun ^^

Holy moly.. I looked at the picture first, before reading the text and was like "Hey, I know that place..."
Right.. Brugge!

If you're looking for similar styled pics, I'm betting Gent and Leuven(Louvain?) could offer some great shots. Belgium rocks!

I do like Leuven. It's got a really nice feel to it as an old University city. Plus some great bars.

Belgium rocks. But then you have Brussels. Which is kinda like the clinker of the country, if not central Europe.

If you don't know what a clinker is, look it up. That or dangleberry.

You might find some bits of Cambridge that also have Stormwindian themes. I'm thinking of old cities with canals... so there will be more.

Dalaran always made me think of Istanbul or Amritsar... kinda not sure why for the latter... it just does.

But then you have Brussels.

It's like Tina Turner. It used to be great once but got beaten up. Some parts of it are restored, but the mixture is just weird.

Still, if you know where to look... there are LOADS of beauties hidden behind 'ruelles': a small doorway in between 2 buildings that lead to a center terrace where there's either a theater or bar.

"A La Bécasse". The entrance of the ruelle is smaller than a house door and leads to this:

"Theater Toone", a very old puppet theater where they still perform some traditional styled shows.

They sometimes make me think of cut throat alley... without the cut throat.

And of course the Gallerie de la reine, one of Europe's first shopping malls.

And its Neuhaus shop which, IIRC, is world's first stuffed chocolate(praline) shop.

Hahaha JP. A La Bécasse! I went there just a week ago before the easter holidays started. Friends bought me a palette with all different types of geuze, it was delicious.

I think you're being unfair though Gruff. Brussels has some wonderful buildings aswell. The central station designed by Horta, the king and queen gallery that JP showed, there's tons of these. It also has imo one of the most magnificent buildings in Belgium (If not Europe! Yes! Europe!) The palace of justice of Brussels! A mastodont of a building, megalomanian, decadent, richly decorated: this building was designed to strike fear to the criminals, making them feel tiny in the face of it. The interior is absolutetly wauw. All the hallways, the big rooms where the courts are. Underneath there's a complete maze of endless massive tunnels where they've.. I kid you not, lost people in x)

As for my input. Neuschwanstein. This could be a castle in any fantasy world.

It's just easy to pick on Brussels as ugly. And to be fair i don't really mind it. It's just not as pretty as myriad other Belgian cities/towns.

Then again, have you ever seen Stoke?

As for Gilneas. The Yorkshire Moors. If Vale doesn't beat me to it, I shall have to find some windy wet night time pictures.

True, the other towns managed to safeguard their cities mostly when Brussels has sacrifised a lot for being a capital. It's become ramshackle in parts and that does diminish the grandeur it once held :/ I think Brussels in the 19th-early 20th century would have been an impressive sight.


Ps: Never been to Stoke. Sup with that city?

I think that's Bornholm or w/e, by Helsingør, I could be wrong, especially on the name, but it's strikingly alike. Been there a couple of times.

I could imagine the "standard template Alliance keep" looking quite a bit like Vaxholm in the Stockholm archipelago:
