Making a Judge
I've been considering the merits of making a Judge when I come back to this game.
Taking my judge character and dumping him in the command center/ SI-7 building whatever, and adjucating what-ever punishment is needed there on the spot.
That said, I'm not a big fan of our current justice system and punishment system and what not. I like to improvise silly and unusual punishments. I like to toy with people, and I don't like being the epitome of lady justice. So don't expect me to have a full working knowledge of the laws, I like using common sense, nor do I particulairly care of being approved of the council and or going through the OOC-player bureaucracy to be allowed to RP.
What I would do however, is when i'm online plant my judge where criminals are brought in and then they can be immediately trailed before me if the criminal feels like doing that. This would be pretty straight forward. the arresting guard is probably the prosecutor and makes the case, the defendant mounts his defense, and then my judge would adjudicate however he sees fit.
What this wouldn't cause are these things unless specifically approved:
- Maiming
- Execution
- Imprisonment
- Banishment
- You should think along the lines of being forced to walk along the canals and being forced on your knees and beg forgiveness to anyone that you meet, under guard supervision of course.
- To other forms of public service like cleaning the cathedral or the council chambers, or alphabetizing the library.
- Being forced to shine the shoes of the every guard in the command center for an evening.
- Being strong armed into being the judge's scribe for an evening.
- To being forced into participating with "charity" events.
The point being - punishment should generate RP, and it should be Fun OOCly.
It won't be high drama, it won't be super serious and it won't be fair, but it should be fun.
The question is, are the people dealing with Law and order - scum and pristine talismans of justice alike - even interested in something like this?

From the standpoint of roleplaying both criminals, and law abiding civilians - The suggested punishments sound a lot better than the current system. Wounds have always been a problem with roleplay, as well as taxing gold from people. Locking up criminals for two days and limited RP is not something enjoyable.
Now, forcing people to go through these public, embarassing punishments, with multiple levels of severity, sounds better.

I approve of this. Make sure to document every crime and punishment aswell. Also, please have it be Diego who is the judge. Amaryl could work too.
