That almost made me grith my teeth, so it was a good imitation of your typical WoW forums user. Granted, it wasn't hard to do, but maybe that tells more about how easily I get irritated by those people.

Even if it would mean giving up on it, I almost wish that Blizzard would create those few Vanilla realms, that would use the patch previous to the pre-TBC one, then leave it like that. Maybe one or two GMs to help people out with major issues, but no fixes to existing bugs and no new content, whatsoever. Obviously you'd also roll the engine back all those years and remove all the 'casual lolz' features that have been implented on it. Possible or not, I'd just like to see how that would turn-out. Who knows, maybe it would end up being just what some of those people want. I have heard some players comment on how fun it is to play on private servers, so maybe it does work for some players. Don't think I could see myself enjoying it.

If I would have to mention something that I miss greatly from the Vanilla/TBC era, it would probably be a whole lot of people that I used to play with back then. Blizzard can't really help with that problem, unless we involve some complicated AI and/or blackmailing...

P.S. I think I might've made a post like this before, so I'll leave this subject for good now. Maybe.

P.P.S. Account has been frozen for 25 days now and no desire to return at the moment!

That... is indeed impressive. I have to admit that. Now if only we could get RACIAL structures as well instead of ONLY Human/Orc ones, I'd be happy as a Dwarf in a brewery, with him as the taster.

It has a statue of Anduin Lothar.

Perfect.

(Well, as a generic Alliance/mostly-human base that is. I still hope they'll consider adding racial buildings at some point, I'm a bit tired of the Horde and Alliance aesthetic equalling Orc/Human)

No complaint from us red blades, Orcish buildings and all.

And as our guild/tribal/clan lore goes somewhat along the lines of that our ancestral clan home was in the "frozen northlands" of Draenor, we can even build our garrison IC'ly in frostfire ridge... We've been dammed lucky!

Kraag's hold and the wolf king's hall, here we come!

EDIT: and while its on my mind, that alliance garrison looks awesome  Shocked

Since creating race-specific buildings could take time* I would be fine with having orcish/human main buildings (town hall, armory, whatever) and race-specific minor buildings (a dwarven forge, a gnomish workshop, a forsaken laboratory etc.). It would also enhance the RTS vibe (managing your own town, having followers, gathering resources) garrisons are supposed to give off.

By the way remember garrisons will be customizable with statues, trophies and a lot of vanity stuff, so despite the architectural style you'll probably feel at home nonetheless.

* They can't just copy and paste existing ones, these new ones are better designed and way more detailed according to what we've seen so far

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Someone already pointed out that it costs 44.99 euros at the moment, which is 10 euros more than what MoP, if I remember right. So I guess that counts in the free character boost you'll get...

I'll be waiting until next month for pre-purchase. Though, yes, I assume the added price is because of the 90 boost. Otherwise this price hike doesn't really make any sense.

is anyone else having problems with the shop page to select which edition of WoD you want to pre-order?

For me, its horribly jarbled and lacking any buttons, yet the US version is fine. Neutral

Warlords of Draenor Developer Interviews
There were a few developer interviews at the recent press events, so today we are taking a look at interviews with Alex Afrasiabi from Ausgamers. Most of the information has already been covered in other interviews, but there are a few new things:

Warlords of Draenor has roughly 10 new mounts.
Warlords of Draenor has roughly 10 new scenarios.
Garrisons could come to Azeroth in the future if the devs feel like it is the right decision based on what they learn from Warlords of Draenor.

New Character Models - Face Variations
There has been some concern about the variety of faces offered with the new models. It looks like we will get some answers in a future Artcraft post!

Misc
You won't be allowed to fly in Draenor at release, and the devs want to see how players react to this.
Afrasiabi also mentions that he thinks it is possible that players could love a world with no flying.
Garrisons will change the way the game plays, making it feel new.

Draenor
Iron Horde will be coming through the Dark Portal in the weeks coming up to the expansion release.
Upon arrival to Draenor, players will go through a 45 minute experience to try and turn off the Dark Portal to save Azeroth.
You will see why the enemy is so bad right right away, as well as why you must stop them.
When Garrosh goes back to Draenor, he still thinks he is a great savior. He wants to show the world the might of a united Orc front.

I think no flying at all wouldn't be that bad. Suuuure i'd hate it myself at times but man it could be a thing! Find "oh my can't use my flying mounts urg" plenty of places to still use them anyway, not much of a mount person anyway myself.

Personally I don't mind flying mounts, but you can remove the fastest speed to promote the usage of flightpaths instead to cross greater distances faster (flymounts can therefor be used to cross shorter distances, for example questzones and gathering stuff). Then the world would seem larger without making it larger, people would still have flymounts, albeit slower such, and everyone would more or less be content with it.

No flying mounts is a godsend for PvP servers.
On top of that it'll make Draenor seem bigger than it is which is always a plus for immersion in RP.

Blizzard wrote:There's a ton of awesome PvP-related stuff happening in Warlords. Just off the top of my head:

CC Disarmament: there's a lot fewer CC spells, especially instant and auto cast CCs, and more shared DRs among the ones that remain.
Health and scaling rebalance: means little to no Base Resilience or Battle Fatigue are needed, and classes that aren't as reliant on gear to perform. Also does wonders for PvP class balance.
Ashran: our new open world PvP zone, which we're not quite ready to share details on yet (but what I've seen so far looks awesome!)
Skirmishes: unrated Arenas that can be queued for either solo or in a group.
Spectator invites & Tournament gear: additional tools to allow tournament organizers to run high-quality tournaments without needing direct intervention from Blizzard.
Our new built-in Group Finder: much easier way to find party members for rated BGs or Arenas.

And that's just from the stuff we've already talked about. There's more to come as we continue development.

I know healer scaling was mentioned, but what about damage scaling? It has just gotten absurd how quickly damage scaled in MOP - we went from doing 60k dps to 400k+, which is why Battle Fatigue and PVP Resilience had to be set so high in the first place.

You need to hit the root of the problem NOW while you are doing the item squish - if you wait until after WOD then it will be too late and you'll have to do an item squish again for the next expansion.
So, there's actually a lot going on there:

Currently, in Mists, level 90 characters have a relatively high amount of base health, and a relatively low amount of base damage or healing on their abilities. As a result, your health from Stamina doesn't increase as quickly as your damage or healing from Attack or Spell Power. To use some made up numbers for perspective, your gear might account for 80-90% of your damage, but only 40-50% of your health. That's why, as the quality of your gear increases by hundreds of item levels over the course of an expansion, we see such a high swing in damage output compared to health pools.

For Warlords, we're simplifying that by making health and spell effectiveness scale a lot more linearly. Base health is being lowered dramatically (and the effectiveness of Stamina increased) to the point that as damage or healing goes up, health pools go up alongside them. That lets us ensure that PvP gameplay at low gear vs high gear feels relatively similar.

On top of that, we're increasing health pools in general -- they'll be much larger in comparison to the damage players are able to deal to each other than they are today. Resilience and Battle Fatigue were added because without them, an attack or heal would account for massive chunks of a player's health bar. With higher health, that same spell doesn't have as big of an impact.

(It's worth noting that all of this is after the item squish, so it's all relative. The actual numbers, including health pools, will end up much smaller compared to how things are today.)
