Proclamation of the role of magic

Magic is a great double-edged sword entrusted into our hands by the Holy Light to be wielded for the benefit of humanity. This tool must be used wisely, and we must take measures to safeguard ourselves against the many perils of magic.

The magi of the Kirin Tor have codified extensive laws of magic and erected a series of institutions and regulations to monitor the use of magic and ward off the Dark Arts. Unsanctioned study or practice of the Dark Arts is strictly forbidden under these laws, and all research done must be performed under the strictest supervision.

The Chapter of Holy Anethion sees it as our duty to obey these laws of the Kirin Tor, and will enforce them on every mage in our ranks in addition to requirements of a strong faith and Anethionean law against the vain use of magic. The Chapter welcomes all mages who combine an inquisitive mind and interest in the arcane with faith in the Holy Light and a desire to do their Sacred Duty.

The Kirin Tor is not all-power and not all-seeing, ordinary citizens must aid this organization in their hunt against the Dark Arts and the unsanctioned use of magic. We beseech all citizens to:

1) Do not accept aid or services of a mage without first asking for his license, report all magi without such a certificate to the Kirin Tor.
2) Be especially weary of apprentices offering their services before graduation, these men and women may do great harm to themselves and others if they begin performing their magic to soon in their training.
3) Research and practice of the Dark Arts is only permitted to those with license from the Kirin Tor or His Majesty’s military. Report all those you suspect may not have such a license!
4) Practice of the Dark Arts in the Kingdom of Stormwind is against the Law, report all whom you find performing Dark Magic to the City Guard or the Kirin Tor.
5) Beware the mage who refuses to show his papers, those who have something to hide have something to fear. Report them at once.

((Hmm this sounds very interesting to me, and should be fun. Especially for those of us, that ICly don't liketo be policed by "Holy people".

*A canon walks around the city and takes down the posters. When asked why he says: " All I know is that I were to take these down. And put up new ones tomorrow."

The new morning came and the canon walked out to Stormwind once more. The new posters soon enough decorated the city.

((I could arrange something for any of those who aren't graduates. Or even with the certificates but if your character has graduated from the Kirin Tor I imagine they'd have some form of documentation stating so, also Aren what's the point? We all know its gonna happen anyway.))

(( I was just questioning if we were all in the same boat in that regard, Alorah. Just incase the backing of Dalaran as a still-neutral city on part of the Chapter was intentional or not.

Though I'm still a little confused, given that it states that membership of a Dalaran school is mandatory? ))

Firstly: Papers are something you simply can whisper oocly the autenticity of. Simple as that ^^

I might be wrong here but wasnt the Stormwind Mages Tower lore wise also connected to the Kirin Tor? *peers at*

Hence, representatives of the Kirin Tor would be possible to find there?^^

Alright, that's cool. For a moment there I thought the safety of the mage population was going to depend on two or three people roleplaying "the man" able to give out such papers.

Hehe no, no by no means:D As in that case I could have nominated myself to be that one person, never let anyone get papers and slaughter- I mean ops No more mages around XD

((It's not delayed until patch 5.2, it's still in 5.1. Just keep doing Operation: Shieldwall dailies and it will eventually be unlocked. It's part of the Shieldwall storyline.

((It gets purged of the Sunweavers and Jaina declares that Dalaran belongs to the Alliance. Whether that will result in any phasing changes to Dalaran the city I don't know.))

Light knows the Alliance could use the help in Alterac, where it's supposed to be at.

That hole isn't nearly big enough to house Dalaran though.

Alterac is packed to the brim with Ogres and it is also in the middle of New Lordaeron. Not a good place for a city just about to convert to the Alliance, considering the Forsaken are not half as restricted as..
