I can't even begin to critique the WiiU, it's so bland and bloody boring it's not even notable enough to call the 'worst addition to the console market ever'. The next great step! Really? Because it looks like a Gameboy to me...Granted one with some interesting co-dependancy features with the Wii. But if that's the best thing anyone could come up with this year I pity the entire industry.

I'm an equal oppertunities hater. I hate all crap equally, be it Gameboy Bravo2Zero limited edition 3.0 with inbuilt pregnancy test, the latest inevitably dissapointing Bond game, the dismal expansion to one of my favourite games of all time (With Fire and a very 'buggy' sword), or any attempt to make Thief a combat orientated game.

Edit: Any Duke Nukem game. I played them when I was young, I've played them since I became old. I've played them too damn much and any attempt to cash in on my nostalgia for being repeatedly dissapointed by a dick with blonde hair, a smoking problem, and sunglasses is going to be met with prejudice.

If it becomes just another screen then it sucks. But the interaction with the main screen seemed interesting. If it could be a proper enhancement to the 3d experience.. it is some novelty at least. However.. I doubt there will be more than a handful of games actually utilizing it to its full potential.

The WiiU is more than just the controller, it's just that the controller is far more intresting than "Oh, and we have this console planned that when on release will be the most powerful on the market".
What nintendo aim for are changing the gaming world, not just more of the same shit on a different day. That's why they have this... somewhat rediculus sounding but quite innovative thing now, and if developers actually really take it into game designing I'd say it can turn out to be not rediculus but awesome. I'd say nintendo did a big miss with only showing the controller, and never the rest of the console, since only some of the developers telling about their third party support were those who mentioned the console and not just controller.

It's actually surprising how many seem to think that WiiU is just the controller or it's just another peripheral for Wii or that it's a portable controller, etc...

Nintendo really could've shown the actual console as well, even if it was just to show that there will be a physical box next to your TV that will house the actual hardware.

Personally I'm rather interested by the concept of asymmetrical gameplay that the WiiU makes possible, but I'd also like to know more about the technical details of the hardware. Sure, it's more powerful than any of the current-gen consoles, but by how large margin? It needs to be quite the powerhouse so that it won't suffer the fate of Wii when Sony and Microsoft release their next-gen consoles.

Well, depending on how well the depth that controller might go with extra pure power might not purly win.
And I doubt Nintendo would only go for 1 year deals with EA etc, that'd be stupid. I am really hoping that Nintendo will somehow "win" this so new gaming consoles become new in what they bring, not just better graphics. "Bloom" is not realistic no matter what graphics freaks say.

This.. however.. unless Nintendo pull thier fingers out of thier arses and get some decent software and IP's under thier belt I fear for another Wii episode. AKA - shit loads of potential but doing fuckall with it Sad

At least they have managed to gather some third party devs under their wings for the reveal of the console. Here's hoping they can keep them in, as well as attract new devs.

Come to think of it, they already have THQ making games for them... Warhammer games on WiiU, pleeeeease?
