Yeah... That sucks, but I'm sure you'll recover Razz

Haven't had a war of containment happen to me yet only maintaining status quo.. Or well, not in a serious game. Britain decided to send stacks of death my way on my first game as the US.

Now I'm playing a rather passive United States. Fighting a fierce battle to keep my SoI over South America though. Want to get my economy booming so I'm only keeping a skeleton military. It's just forty thousand soldiers strong, mostly in preparation for the Civil War that's bound to come sooner or later.

And what the fuck was the Ottoman Empire doing there?

If it had not been for Great Britain and French reinforcements from across the world, Belgium would have been all German. Large parts of northern France too...

Victoria II, has after playing it for three days, made me want to smash my monitor so many times it is fucking amazing that I still am able to use it.

So.. After a few distractions I have returned to DEUTSCHLAND.

It is now 1875. Five years ago I decided that enough was enough and that Germany needed to expand once more. My opportunity came when the Netherlands lost Great Power status and a random event gave me a casus belli to acquire a state. I quickly sent my army to the border and invaded. In the end I annexed the Dutch regions of Friesland and Gelderland, leaving them with only the Dutch coastline.

There were some minor complications though. Big ones actually. Rebels. The Jacobins decided to screw me over and rise up en masse. I had rebel armies trying to occupy ALL of Czechoslovakia and ALL of Alsace-Lorraine. Luckily I had kept two armies of about 20,000 men in reserve and they first tore the Jacobins in Czechoslovakia a new one before moving onto Alsace-Lorraine, though I also had to sent reinforcements from the Dutch theater of operations to help out. Alright, that was done. Germany was silent once more, right? Well, no. First Hessian nationalists rose up but they were completely and utterly annihilated and then came Bavaria. All of Bavaria rose up with stacks ranging from the 3,000 men to to 33,000 men.... Needless to say they were wiped off the map.

Oh, and I had a pesky problem with liberals constantly winning elections and cancelling the few subsidies I have to keep the factories going. I did something I hadn't thought of yet: I increased the voting rights, at least now the conservatives are in control of the upper house and I don't need to restart my subsidizing.

Oh, and I discovered I had left an army which, when fully reinforced, is worth 40,000 men or so, in the south of France so I returned them to Germany Razz

Anyway, I tried finding a screenshot but I have no idea where I can find them with steam and all, any ideas?

THAR DEUTSCHLAND. And the white blob was me screwing around, essentially there is nothing interesting there. I had some very minor unemployment and my craftsmen couldn't keep up with the expansion of factories so I got a few closed factories.

Do not, in the Netherlands pack I've got a tons of colonies in the east that I didn't bother with Screenshotting.
Both maps are played with a friend who adores Prussia (which is why the German Empire is there both times).

And yeah, my Austria is doing a bit better than yours Very Happy

I've gotten to the point with Austria that I can support 1000~ Brigades. If I wanted, I could take on the entire Europe and win.

I can't do anything, without the fear of the mighty French (lol) empire striking down on me.

I decided to stay on the sidelines for too long, which caused France to rape central / eastern europe, and they were largely successful due to Prussia, Russia, Austria and a bunch of other wee arse countries (with huuuuge armies!) fighting against each other instead of uniting against france.

So now I have a global superpower with the force of a gazillion soldiers standing ready to torture me at my every move.

Heck, not even GB is messing with France.

Benne, if you think France is bad in Victoria 2, you should have tried Europa Universalis 3.

If it was a player that controlled France, noone could stop him. It was impossible. But you must be a wee bit unlucky, I mean.. I never had any problems with any major power when I play it. I always manage to dodge Surprised

Edit: We three should so try to make a 3 man Victoria 2 game at some point.. Y/N?! Very Happy
