[A] [Kalimdor] The Ashpine Tribe (Update 4)
As one of the first major Circle events to hit to stage, the Gnarlpine Liberation is part of the Circle's effort to bring life to Darnassus and its surrounding areas. With the intend of showing that there is more to Night Elf RP than sitting on a bench in Stormwind and flirting with every odd female that passes by, or acting like xenophobic assholes, this event will focus on how the Kaldorei deal with a classical problem on their own.
As such, non-Kaldorei attendees are asked to bring, you guessed it, a Dartol's Rod of Transformation to play the part of the Gnarlpine Tribe; much akin to the Dark Iron Slaver event some time ago. Not only will this allow people to step away from their regular characters for a short while without committing to level an entirely new toon, but also experience the nature of, well, being an actual furbolg.
Event Details:
- Monday the 30th; A plan of action will be presented to the gathered Kaldorei at the Circle of Elders at 21:00, those Elves willing to participate are welcomed to pledge their allegiance to the cause. [Event Complete]
- Tuesday the 31th (20:00); With the Furbolgs forwarned of their impending rescue, the Elves prepare to liberate the harried Furbolgs from their maddened bretheren. Elves are to gather at the Darnassus Gatehouse. Furbolgs to be at the warrior's terrace, from where I'll send them (oocly) to the Furbolgs burrows with a random scenario. [Event Complete]
- Wednesday the 1st (21:00); The tribe freed, Uung the Liberated prepares for a ceremony to decide the future of the tribe. To extend his thanks to the Night Elven saviours, he invites them to join in on the procedures and the following celebration feast. The location to be is at the lake behind the Cenarion Enclave in Darnassus. [Event Complete]
- Thursday the 2nd (21:00); To solify his claim for Leadership on the tribe, Uung must now tell one of the Furbolg's most ancient myths to the gathered Ashpine. The Elves have once more been invited to attend. [Event Complete]
- Friday the 3rd; Having found a new location for the Furbolgs to live, the Elves will escort the tribe to their new territory from Darnassus. [Cancled]
People wishing to join are to send me (or any other Circle Elder*) an ingame message/mail, or drop a note here on the forums for a calendar invite.

Tired.
So tired.
Branches slapped against his face, obscuring his sight and adding to the multitude of cuts and bruises that already covered his fur. His heart was hammering in his chest faster than he was comfortable with, and his legs felt like they were going to give any second.
He had to go on.
He stumbled, managed a frustrated growl, then rolled face first into a bush and down a slope. A tree stump stopped him rather ungracefully, and he found his world suddenly filled with bright stars.
He pawed himself away from the tree stump and tried to push on, only coming as far as a few feet before his legs finally gave way. Groaning, he rolled himself over onto his back and tried to get his bearings.
Maddened growling drove him up, fearfully scrambling backwards as three shapes burst from the foliage from which he'd just emerged. The three Furbolg roared out in victory and charged his direction without so much as pausing to consider.
He could only lift his arms.
A soft whisteling filled the air, the sort he'd come to know, and fear, only too well. Two feathered arrows lodged itself into both the eyes of one of his pursuers, stopping the Furbolg dead in his tracks. The other two roared out in frustration and turned tail, more arrows zipping over the collapsing form of their comrade as they fled back into the underbrush.
He collapsed onto the ground, panting loudly. Only now did the pain of the beatings hit him, and only now did he notice his fur was matted with his own blood. The world spinned, and he let his head fall back onto the grass.
Shadows passed over him as the world slowly grew out of focus. There were voices, soft, barely audible. But he knew. He knew they belonged to Knife ears.
He reached up futilely, trying his best to speak the Elven tongue.
"Please.. help.."
Then Uung fainted.
Native to isle of Kalidar for uncounted generations, the Furbolg tribe of the Gnarlpine was all but unaware to the outer world untill the Archdruid Fandral Staghelm arrived on the shores of their territory. Bombastically announcing that the island had been chosen to represent the future of the Kaldorei race, he demanded to speak with the tribe's Chieftains. Yet weary of the druid's intentions, the Elders of the tribe none-the-less heard the pleas of the Arch Druid as he outlined his intention to grow a new World Tree on Kalidar.
How exactly Staghelm convinced the tribe to give up their territory is lost to time, but it is known that the Gnarlpine furbolgs not only allowed, but actually aided the Arch Druid's followers in the growing of the tree. As his thanks, Fandral granted the tribe territories in the boughs of Teldrassil, promising them whatever danger might come, the two races would face it together.
Yet while the Archdruid's intentions were pure, the growth of Teldrassil ultimately fell short of actually becoming the beacon it had been supposed to be. Lacking the blessing of the great Dragon Aspects, the great tree soon feel victim to a vile corruption that spread up from its very roots; tainting the growth of the pristine forests and affecting the wildlife in worrisome ways. And as nature itself ultimately reflects the well being of any given Furbolg tribe, so too did the Gnarlpine come under the influence of the fel taint.
Elven accounts of the tribe's turn are vague, but the current state of Teldrassil's forests speaks volumes. For several years now, the Gnarlpine have fought a bitter guerrilla war against the Elven sentinels - attacking and harrying travelers along the roads, desecrating Barrow Dens and even openly attacking villages. Unable, and partially unwilling, to bring their full military might to bear against former allies, the Elves have been forced to give the Tribe and its new Chieftain, Ursal the Mauler, free reign.
With the arrival of Uung at the city of Darnassus mere days ago, the Elves suddenly find that not only all Furbolgs weren't corrupted, but actually wished to be saved from the tyranny of their maddened brothers as well. Realizing this was an opportunity they could not pass down, the Elves agree to aid their former allies in any way they can.
Ande'thoras-ethil.

I don't think there is enough for one there, let alone two.
OH SNAP!
That was harsh, I apologise.

Anyway! This sounds like a truly awesome and unique initiative that, I think, will bring ALOT of viarity to the RP for elves!

Last notice. Starting at 20:00, Elves are to gather at the Darnassus Gatehouse. Furbolgs to be at the warrior's terrace, from where I'll send them (oocly) to the Furbolgs burrows with a random scenario.
Note that I will present on Mandarath through-out the event, should you have any questions - or want a raid invite - whisper me, and I'll do my best to be of assistance.
Hope to see you tonight!

Re: [A] [Kalimdor] The Ashpine Tribe (Update 4)
Event recap;
Under guidance of Mandarath Winterstorm, appointed leader of the rescue mission, a combined force of sentinels and volunteers set out from Darnassus around 20:30, proceeding to a suitable location within Teldrassil to set up a base camp.
With the camp secured, a team was swiftly set up and sent out to the Ban'ethil Barrow Den to retrieve a score of pure Furbolg from captivity. Many of those rescued were severly wounded, some succumbing to their wounds before base camp was reached. Phase one of the mission was none-the-less a succes, with a good number of Ursal the Mauler's greatest enemies liberated from their cruel confinement.
With the freed Furbolgs secure at Base-camp, a second team was sent out to Starbreeze village to retrieve a troup of free Furbolg that had mannaged to run away from the main burrows.
Unfortunately the team arrive to find two of the Furbolg had succumbed to the fel taint that had driven the rest of the tribe mad. Uncertain how to proceed, they at first decided to take the Furbolgs, including the tainted, along to Base Camp. This led to one of the tained making a break for it, allerting the rest of the tribe in the village, and warning Ursal the Mauler of the threat that the Elves posed.
Swiftly returning to base camp, a third team was sent out to retrieve the final group of furbolgs near the Pools of Arlithrien. They arrived to find the area vacant. Troubled, they remained put while a scout went ahead to see hat had happened to the group of Furbolgs. Minutes of tense silence past, till suddenly a Gnarlpine raiding party descended upon the team, their ambush sprung.
The attack was beaten back with little trouble, and the team proceeded to a nearby moonwell to recuperate from the attack. Not much later, the scout returned, informing them the group of Pure furbolg had been taken to Gnarlpine hold - where they would undoubtly be executed unless the elves acted quickly.
Gathering up the remaining forces at Base Camp, the Kaldorei set out towards Gnarlpine hold with all due haste. Upon arrival, the elves launched themselves on the hold in a swift, efficient raid that cut straight to where the prisoners were held.
Succesfull in their rescue, the elves quickly led the Furbolg out of the corrupted den and brought them - along with those allready saved - to the Cenarion Enclave in Darnassus, where they would be able to recover from the ordeal.
I want to thank all those who showed up for attending, and hope you had as much fun as I did.
The second event will be held tomorrow (or later today, pending on when you read this), more information will follow shortly.

Some screenies!
Leaving from the guardhouse
Mandarath giving orders
Back at camp with the saved furbolgs!
This event was so much fun! I eventually forgot to take screenies, so this was just the first part of the whole thing!
Big big big thanks to Sanaje for coming up with such an original event!
