The Great Revolution


Introduction
A simple farmer, family in tow, makes his way towards the grand city of Stormwind. His harvests have failed and he seeks to find a better life in the city. Little does he know, for the famine is soon to hit this grand city and widen the gap between the poor and the rich, forcing even more people to live in poverty.
Rumours and conspiracy roam the streets. None are safe for the might of the Nobles and the State. Yet from the shadows of the grand buildings a voice can be heard. A voice, not one, but many, so powerful that the Nobles hide in fear. It is time to stand up against the oppressor and demand liberty and equality.
The peasants have risen, and it is for you to join them, or oppose them!

Why?
Why you ask? The idea of a revolution was born together with the creation of the famine, since many could argue that malnutrition, hunger and poverty go hand in hand to make the peasants revolt against the rulers.
Many have expressed their concerns and shared their ideas, and from this the decision was made that our main goal will be to create role play and in character friction between the factions that operate within and rule the Kingdom of Stormwind.
There is also a channel one can join to discuss both the famine and the revolution in game. You will want to /join RC for the Revolutionary Channel talk.

What?
The word ‘revolution’ makes many tilt their head and think for a moment. What, how and why are most heard questions.
Planned alongside the agenda of the famine, the revolution shall be formed within the shadows of the alleys or within the eye of the Nobles themselves. The coming three months rumours shall be spread, a faction shall be created and, hopefully, a full-blown revolution shall follow! The revolution focusses mainly on the opression of the State and the Nobles, and the demands shall be simple, yet expensive. Compromises shall have to be made.
It is very important to remember that creating your own stories is encouraged, and you need only speak to people to weave your thread in to the web that is Stormwind city. We completely approve of creativity and personal events!
This revolution shall consist of four stages.
These being: Rumours, Organisation, Expansion and Revolution.
Each and every stage shall be formed alongside the agenda of the famine, and will therefore be flexible to meet the demands of the players.

Who?
All of Azeroth is welcome to partake in this lengthy campaign. Be it to oppose the revolution, to stand at the sideline or to raise a hand and partake in the chaos that will change the Kingdom forever. It is up to you, the player, to decide what you want to do.
Alternative characters (alts) will always be welcome, though do keep these limited, or there will be little to no character development.
The agenda shall clearly state who is welcome at a certain event. Be it all the people of Azeroth, the ring-leaders of the revolution or the revolutionaries themselves.

When?
As stated above, the revolution shall be ongoing until the end of the famine. In total not more than three months.
In these three months, a lot will be happening. If you are interested in partaking in said events, you need only look below for the detailed agenda.

Where?
The campaign shall be focussed on the city of Stormwind, though will reach out to all the other regions of the Kingdom of Stormwind. From the shores of Westfall to the far hills of Redridge.
The people shall also reach out to other continents, should the need arise.


Contacts are Tsurana/Lorainne, Gahalla and Lexgrad/Jarric. Though the organisation of the revolution rests upon my shoulders, there are many others that know what is going on and will gladly help you should you have any questions! Don't be shy.

What?

Thursday the 27th of October, starting at 21:00 GMT+1.

Who?
The Third Estate, as described above. The Third Estate is composed of: farmers, labourers, craftsmen, guards, peasants, merchants and low nobility.

Agenda


Stage I: Rumours 20-09 – 11-10

01-10 – The attempted kidnapping of Lady Eira of House Dieudonne.
The Forlorn Cartel shall attempt to kidnap Lady Eira of House Dieudonne at 21:00 GMT+1 from within the city of Stormwind.
04-10 – Beg for understanding at council meeting.
Meeting shall commence at 21:00 GMT+1 and the revolutionaries present shall beg the Council to understand their fears of an upcoming Famine.
07-10 – Meeting of the revolutionaries.
All revolutionaries shall gather at a disclosed location, at 21:00 GMT+1, to discuss matters of poverty and education.
11-10 – Attend the Council meeting.
Meeting shall commence at 21:00 GMT+1 and the revolutionaries present shall, if the subject is raised, speak openly against the council and their past foolish behaviour.


Stage II: Organisation 11-10 - 26-10

All of the Third Estate (Farmers, labourers, craftsmen, soldiers, merchants and low nobility) shall gather at a disclosed location, at 21:00 GMT+1.

KIDNAP? I'm in.

Lorainne, as much as I am deeply impressed by your enthusiasm. I'm thinking that you're going a bit too quick. Harvest isn't even over when you start this plot . There's absolutely no shortage of food. Yet.

While gathering groups of people less than satisfied with the society as it looks is fine. Focus on meeting in secret, brood, iron out the details of the plots. But keep it secret for another 3-4 weeks or so. No leaflets, no preaching on the streets, no demanding the authorities to relent. Not yet.

Focus on recruitment. Work in pairs to get people you want, influential people, on your side. Plot and scheme. Lay the groundwork for the glorious revolution, but at this point virtually noone outside of westfall is going to be on your side. It will happen, but not just yet.

Another reason is that with the October crusade, a lot of people will move out of Stormwind and lessen all your impact.

Am very aware of this, Gahalla! I too find some things are progressing a little too fast, but luckily Fortesgue stepped in and has forced them to go underground.
Stage III will start 25th of October. This is when 'shit goes down', basicly. And as you can see, this is one day before your return. No worries about Stage II, since this will be mostly underground meetings and planning the revolution.

Haha in reality Lex will want to deal with this trouble by launching a war on something and yelling at people, Dru will have a go at him for not being political and he will retreat to a nice tower to brood whilst the guild lobbies for permition to turn the rioters into test subjects/ghouls/corpses.

I would like to help it on my new rogue Dinkleberry IC, not OOC however. Too much work for me :S

Question, are any of the affected parties of this Revolution going to be contacted to discuss/arrange details on how this will roll out? Or is it going to be a 'deal with it' matter?

Personally I'd prefer a "roll with it" approach. That everything that happens is because players made it happen IC. As little ooc planning as possible. If all the leaders are arrested in day one, then it fizzles and dies. If half the community joins it then it'll be almost impossible to stop with force.

Though I could see the problems arising from that. Perhaps one solution would be to determine "stay away"-zones. While we all know that the revolution will fail to depose the king, there might be some other things we better stay away from.

Basically... is there anything you don't want to happen?

a "Roll with it " approach could also mean the response to such behaviours would have to be recieved in such a way too.
